I have been expecting tires to be on the climb. My searches are not conclusive. With oil and tariffs being front and center for a good while the prices seem all over the place and not necessarily higher.

I came across a Tire Rack deal for BFGoodrich KO2s 285/60-18 for a grand. Just not sure if buying now and sitting on them for a couple of years make sense.

I wouldn't. If there is some sort of problem with tires that you don't find out about until you mount them, you will be stuck. Also, if the truck gets wrecked or sold, you are stuck with them.

I have been in this situation. Bought tires on an RV trip in Denver, I live in MD. A few months later after I was home I was having steering issues and my shop figured out one of the tires was defective. At that point there was nothing I could do since the shop was 2500 miles away.

They were Firestone AT2 tires, and I have since learned my lesson not to buy that brand again.

I just spent almost $700 to put new tires on my mom's jeep, and they weren't even a name brand. I'd Also worry about them dry rotting in storage if I wasn't going to mount them within a year. I generally replace my tires early because of snow and ice and driving a 2wd ram isn't fun without good tires in winter.

Most tire warranties are based on mileage not time. And as long as they’re stored properly they aren’t going to dry rot in 1 or 2 years. I don’t see an issue with buying them now and storing them for a year or two. If you’re at all concerned about being able to get an adjustment if there are issues with them when you finally mount them up just buy them from a retail chain tire shop.

Just bought tires for my 2019 RAM, replacing tires more based on age than mileage, though they had close to 30K on them.

(4) AT4Ws Falkens, "C" rated, I do not need 8 or 10 ply. $248 per, plus mount, balance, install, tire disposal fee, state tax, $1150.00. I did check the tire age per the tire, and they were 40-25, Sept 2025 manufactured, purchased March 2026. U need to be just as cognizant how old the tires are when you purchase also, if you get a specialty tire sometimes you not know how long on "shelf".
