Hi everyone,

Just bought myself a whole lot of fun with a 2002 SLT Quad Cab 4x4 4.7L V8.

Still a work in progress but I am getting around the beast slowly trying to get the bugs and spiders out of the frame... It had been sitting for a bit of a while with the previous owner so I'm still cleaning up everything.

I have already enjoyed a lot of the talk around here and have taken a fair bit of information on things to monitor on this truck.

So far it's bone stock as it came to life from the factory, and after I am done with the clean up and tune up I might get tempted to mod of the truck for my needs.

Right now it is a daily driver. I don't do any offroading, but wanted a truck for a very long time to help out with a lot of the DIY project I do around the house. Since I'm also a hobby mechanic, getting this truck back into a better shape is also part of the fun for me.

Talk to you soon...

I'm on the south shore of Montreal.

As for the truck, so far it mostly general maintenance, as well as some rust which is not uncommon for our neck of the woods. Worst damage is the driver side rocker panel which will require a new part be welded-in.

The previous owner said he had an electrical issue with the truck and he by passed the "Start" part of the key starter with a push button... Not looking forward to opening the dash and see what kind of a mess he left in there, but so far everything works great.

I've done some plastic surgery on the driver seat cushion which was partly destroyed and I revived quite well. I now sit 2 inches higher than when I got the truck last week...
This weekend I'm servicing the rear Disk brakes with new discs and pads and will be inspecting the calipers (maybe cleaning them up and giving them a coat of VHT to make them clean) and the rest pf the rear assembly. No Diff leaks as far as I can see and non noise from the rear end either.

I'm also going to do an engine bay clean up to facilitate troubleshooting of possible leaks anywhere in the front. I seem to hear a buzzing sound similar to a Power Steering Pump that is about to go south so I'll be on the lookout for that one.

In the very near future, I will also have ALL the fluids flushed and replaced.

I had a low budget to start with, so I'll see how things go and do work as I go (can).

I'm pretty handy and have lots of tools to work with, only missing a good place to work on the truck.

I'd wish we would have some hobby shop we can rent space in for bigger repairs requiring a lift or at least a flat place to work on, as my driveway slopes down to my basement garage.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

BTW Hemihustlin, seeing you are from Montréal, I wanted to let you know I have found a DIY garage in Montreal Nord.

Garage 7 jours | Réparez votre véhicule vous-mêmes ou profitezdenos mécaniciens spécialisés. Mécanique générale, carrosserie, location d'outils.

The place seems to have good reviews, so I will definitely go and have a look at what it can offer, I have seen they have a paint booth which I will leverage for sure since I have everything but the booth to refresh the paint on the truck.

I'll let you know how the place is.

Lol, push to start, nice :p
But seriously you have a good project ahead of you and you seem pretty motivated, good luck and good find on that DIY garage
