Welcome to the site

Going from any new truck to an older used truck is a downgrade, thats understandable. But we are Ram people, so any troubles should be able to find your answer here

Jasper trans are pretty good. The major trans problems were with the 2nd gens (like my truck) but the newer ones I think had some trouble too.

First off your over thinking it. You'll be fine. Second off your upgrading cause your getting rid of the Chevy. Third off Welcome to RF.

I'm sure you're die hard for your ram, which is cool. I respect that...but every once in a while try to take an outside look at things...like the statement you just made. 5 years older and its an upgrade?

Nope. Not a die hard fan. I actually sold my 2010 for 03 BMW. Buts that's only cause I'll deploying.

I'm just giving you a hard time when I said "upgrading" cause you sounded a little rough by talking down on the Ram. Oh well it's just opinions.

I can understand the reference to a "downgrade" due to age and maybe a lack of features, but I have to wonder why the decision for a 5-6 year old Dodge when there are likely a few Chevys of the same age and mileage available since you seem to be a believer? No offense of course, we all have our preferences.

My experiences with GM products have produced a number of nuisances, mostly doors falling off and earlier than expected breakage involving both mechanical and cosmetic/interior issues. I do admit that I've had better luck with Oldsmobiles than other GMs.

Having just traded my '99 Ram, I'm only on my 2nd, so the jury is still out so to speak. But the driving experience of the Dodge, old or new, has it in the lead for me.

Welcome. Like Luke said going backwards in years is always a downgrade in some sort. Besides it being older and having less luxury style comforts keep an open mind. You might find you like it. IMO every manufacturer has their problems. What makes a truck better is in the eye of the beholder.

Welcome to the forum! Yes we do have some DieHard Dodge people here. I have owned a lot of trucks from Toyota's with 350's in them to F450's with Diesel. I have to say I like what I have now the best. Its fast, never brakes, looks good, and holds the road like a sports car. (AND STILL HAS A STICK ON THE FLOOR THAT YOU HAVE TO MOVE FOR THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE(push button crap sux)). Sorry my truck rant to ALL truck makers.

All in all if you can deal with the DieHards here (think I might be one) it is a extremely valuable source for you and your truck. Glad to have you!

Welcome sir. I was looking for a GM when I bought my truck, but in order to get 4 real full doors and a V8 with the same miles, a GM would have been more expensive.

This is the first Mopar I have ever owned and I am a convert. I absolutely love this truck. It has a great ride, lots of towing capacity, power to spare and I just love the aggressive styling. I too was worried about the tranny, but no problems so far and from the knowledge I have gained on this site, that appears to be more of a 2nd gen problem.

Welcome to RF!

I'm one of them die hard Ram guys, have been since I was 11 when the movie Twister came out and saw that big beautiful red 2500. But I respect other peoples opinions and don't jump on them for speaking their minds, no matter how wrong they are, j/k...hahaha

As far as going from a 12 to a 07, it is a down grade but give her time, you'll come around and learn to love the Ram just as much. Might miss the creature comforts of a new truck but that's what modifications are for, lol.

Like it was stated already, the tranny issue's were with the second gens. When I traded my 99 in, it still had the original tranny with 146k miles on it with no problems...well that was until about 50 miles before I traded her in and messed the tranny up real good off roading like a ****, lol. I beat the stuffing out of my old Ram before trading her in, still miss her for she was the first Ram.
