Anybody know what they term "new TorqueFlite transmission"?

TorqueFlite was the old 727, wasn't it?

The 845 and 8HP70 are labeled Torqueflite. The ZF is the German trans.

Ford builds their 10speeds in house as does GM. They just share the design. 10R80 vs 10L80 I believe. GM doesn't label it an an Allison. I think it's called a "Hydra-Matic".

Is not 8HP70 also ZF?

Best look on GM site. I saw Allison.

FWIW, when the 5 speed transmission was developed, Allison was a division of GM.
(they sold it in 2007)
When they did this, GM retained the plant that made the transmission for the pickups.

GM selling Allison Transmission for $5.6 billion | Reuters

GM uses higher capacity transmission in the HD's than in the 1500s.
Yes, they used to make a 2500 SUV which would have had the heavier transmission -- did you have one of those and did it give problems?
'Over the years' makes me think some of the Yukons that gave problems were the 4 speeds?

The 5 speed Allison was beefed up over the years to match increases in dmax performance.
It was changed to a 6 speed -- same transmission, but different valve that permitted a previously unused combination of those gears. (there were/are aftermarket suppliers that have kits to convert the 5 speed ones to a 6 speed.
6 speed Allison was used on Dmax until the start of the 2020 model

Beginning with the 2020 model, the 2500's stopped using the 6.0 and introduced a 6,.6L gas (rpo LT8), and still with the HD version of the GM 6 speed.
The 2020 diesels switched to the 10L1000 (10 speed Allison/GM transmission)

Beginning with the 2024 model year the LT8 engines started using the 10L1000 as standard.

We're not disagreeing on anything you said above. That is all factual. The 10L1000 is Allison in name (but it isn't built like old school Allisons) whereas the 10L80 is just GM in name.

My point is they used to advertise it as Allison, they stopped that after the launch with all the problems.
