I can't get a straight answer from the dealerships I've contacted, so I'm trying here.

I am planning on getting a 2500 with the CTD.

Probably Laramie trim with options bringing it close to the Limited trim, reason being I want the truck with red paint. However, I really want the black appearance option. (All chrome is black, plus the headlights and taillights seem different, correct me if I'm wrong.)

When selecting the black appearance group on the build at ramtrucks.com, it changes the paint color to black.

Is it possible to make this happen (red w/ black) stock from a dealership or am I better off buying the red paint and changing all the parts after market?
Thanks!

(Also, I've seen the 1500 Rebel, and it's basically EXACTLY what I want in colors, but I really want the CTD, which isn't available in 1500...)

Yeah you'll have to do it yourself. I'm sure you could talk to the dealer into doing it but you'll pay a lot.
Another option is getting an outdoorsman, but you have to sacrifice some options

The black appearance package is just that, EVERYTHING is black. Only way to get it as far as I know.

The Outdoorsman might be a good option

You could do everything you want pretty cheap I believe. The taillights are the same (limited has the chrome around them whereas the black edition doesnt), your bumpers would be painted red unless you opted for the chrome bumpers instead. The grill would be chrome but that's easy enough to change. For the headlights they'll be chrome. You can get them painted by retroshop for a couple hundred which is what I'd recommend.

Ok, could a parts genius get me a list of all the aftermarket items I'd need to get to make the appearance group? I'm kind of a list making fanatic and I want to see how much it would cost me to do this.

Huh. That's it? Well, this might be less of a hassle than I thought.

Thanks!

Also keep in mind that the Laramie does come with chrome bumpers, grille, and door handles those would require being painted black.

If you'd like to see what it would look like in red and black, you can build an Outdoorsman on ramtrucks.com.

OP wouldn't need the LED tails as the high line trucks already come with them

If he is talking about getting the Laramie he would need to replace them with the sport package tails if I am to assume he wants to rid the truck of all chrome.

To the OP,
In 2012 there used to be a "Red Top" Edition truck that you could special order that was an all red sport model truck with black emblems but I believe that this is no longer an option. You are probably much better off buying the red Laramie 2500 and then selling the chrome parts to pay for color matched parts or...... buying an SLT Model 2500 which comes with color matched bumpers and black mirrors and upgrade with the electronic and interior package. You can virtually make any truck you want through the dealer you are just going to have to wait for it which depending on options you may be waiting 6 months to a year. Body wrapping a truck off the top of my head from previous research is going to cost about 4 to 5 grand depending on what you want done and where you live. Just some thoughts.

He could save a bunch of money by just stripping the chrome off the tails though. That's what I meant lol

Full vinyl wraps can get pricey so I wouldnt recommend going that route on a truck this size...

Unless leather seats and a sunroof are options you require, order an outdoorsman. Get it two tone red and black. It will come with black bumpers and grille inserts. The only things you would have to change are the headlights and grille surround. The grille will be red factory, personally i like the color match grille but black will look sweet too. The other thing is debadge and replace the ram emblems with black ones but thats nbd. I think its funny im the only one here that has a 2500 lol.
