I just purchased a 2011 ram 1500 sport a few days ago. I was told it has a 4in lift. From my research, these trucks came with 20in wheels and 3.55 gears. The truck has 18in wheels with 275/65 tires. I would like to step up in tire size to get a more aggressive look without complete murder of my gas mileage. How much gas mileage can I expect to lose?

Looks nice on how it sets, you might have some wheel spacers on it too.

I never hand calculated my mpg before/ after. I went from the factory 33” whatever tires to 35x12.5r20 Toyo MT.

I couldn’t tell you my difference in mpg. All I can say is, my truck went from thirsty to straight toilet bowl flushing thirsty.

There has gotta be a swirl of gas in my gas tank like a toilet bowl draining lol (hypothetical off course).

It doesn’t help that Toyo MT’s are one of the, if not the, heaviest tire one can buy. Keep that in mind. It’s mostly all about tire weight. To give an example, the BFG KO2 in the exact size as above are about 13 lbs per tire lighter.

So, if you want a more aggressive look, factor in tire weight and choose a lighter tire if you are concerned with mpg loss.

I got 3.92 in case you are curious. Still thirsty.

Toyo MT also happens to be one of the, if not the, toughest tire available. I’ll sacrifice a mpg or two knowing that I’m riding on a nearly indestructible tire.

If you never go off-road, and all you’re after is looks, almost any AT or MT will do. If you even plan on driving a forest service road though, avoid the duratrac...

IMHO you'll lose at least 2-3 mpg minimum going to a much larger and heavier tire. I lost about 1-2 mpg just going to an AT from a highway tread, same size.

I just went from 64lb KO2 35-12.50-20 at 34.5" tall to a Nitto that is 34.09 tall and dropped to 47lb tire . It is very noticeable performance wise being I only have 3.55s and a 6sp. Plus went from a very uneeded 10ply tire to a 4ply SL rated same as the OE Good Year 275-60s are. better ride also .

Did not know this. Thanks for the heads up because those were the tires I was looking to buy. I'd like a durable tire that's mostly street but can handle some mud and tough stuff here and there. From what I've read, the toyo's are one of the toughest but heaviest so I'll loose significant gas mileage. I thought the duratrac may be decent, but I guess not lol
Prob because their known to have ***** sidewalls.

Because they are modeled after 1980s rear wheel drive snow tires. They excel in snow, but suck in mud.

Go with nitto trail grapplers. I had 3/4 tread on my 37" toyo MT. They were horrible in the mud and fill up with snow and hydroplane all over the road. Nitto trail grapplers are great on the street, mud, and plow threw snow lije nothing. They are ths only tires i will buy.
You will get 60,000 miles out of them no probmem.
I just put on 38" trail grapplers. Im actually excited for snow.

Hows the road noise? I'm only looking to go 33s or 35s. I have 3.55 gears and would like to keep SOME gas mileage and acceleration

Not sure its at my friends house. I had 35x12.50x20 trail grapplers on my jeep and my 2006 ram. I dont think they are loud at all. But the nitto mud grapplers i put on my jeep were loud. Too loud.
These tires will last 60,000.
