Hi,
This is kinda an introduction and a story how I found this forum.
I've been a Ram owner for a little over 9 years now.
So my First Ram

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Quad cab 5.9 V8
She was a great truck with hardly any repairs over the last 9 years needed
Brakes:that happens, Rear pinion seal: it's a Midwest truck(there's a bit of rust), Thermostat, heater core, this last summer had a leaking front axle seal: which turned into Upper and lower ball joint both sides, right side axle u-joint and left side hub assembly. that's about it. great runner. And I pushed her.

For the last 7 years we've been pulling a 6,800lb. trailer. It's a bit of a strain since I put 33 inch tires on and lost a bit of torque, but always got us where we were going.

So the Saturday after Thanksgiving a group of 4 families head up to the forest roads to get our Christmas trees.
We meet up and have breakfast.

Then we head out up the forest road to get or trees.

We stop just to make sure all is good, on the same page type thing. No more than 2 minutes after that last picture was take. We are driving up, and I see this tree start to fall.
Try to stop, but snow does make for quick stopping.

so this is my truck now.

Luckily no one was hurt, but a sore shoulder from the seat belt.
But since I ride a motorcycle year round to get back and forth to work, I haven't been putting many mile on the truck. So a couple years ago I dropped the comp. and collision ins.
So with borrowed funds (thanks daughter) we picked up the new older Ram.
Didn't have enough for a diesel but I think the V10 will pull the trailer well.
I found this forum by searching for truck info. The new truck I just picked up, doesn't have the tag in the glove box that give the gear ratio and if has limited slip diff. I found how to put in vin. numbers and get a build sheet.
1999 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 Quad cab 8.0 V10

So far I've switched out the mirrors from the other truck (the plastic may be broken from the tree falling on them.but they are less then a year old, and it took me 6 year to get towing mirrors), the trailer brake controller, the drivers seat cushion, drivers side speaker and the head light switch (driving light switch didn't work) Little stuff.

So that's how I ended up here. Hope it will be long and eventful.

I wish you great luck with your new/old truck.
