You may get your raised offering price if you can find the right buyer who is interested in your whole setup. You just gotta finder the right buyer which can take a considerable amount of time.

I don't understand why mods lower the value of your truck? I would think it would raise it.

Not necessarily , My old 04 ram I had just as much in it and found a local buyer that paid what the truck was wroth and what I paid in mods ect .. I actually made money on that truck .

Key is to find someone that has cash on top of the bank note . Banks will only loan for a stock trucks value . People that buy modded trucks will pay for the mods on the truck so they dont have to **** with them .

put your vehicle as much back to stock as possible and sell your mods. you'll make money. I always save my stock parts

Last time I went to the dealer and was looking around they appraised my just looking at it at 12k, after I went thhrough everything in it they bumped it to $14,500 (no where near what I have dropped in to it) when I started it to drive away the guy came up and said $15,500.

Some mods bring in more money, others lose money. Generally performance mods are a 50/50 shot depending on mileage and how you use the vehicle. Special edditions are a big money grabber if they are not touched. Lifts and large tires, depends on gas prices. One of my friends is an appraiser for toyota and has been doing it for 8yrs now.

bottom line though is you can dump thousands of dollars into your truck in mods, and you wont see but half of it if that in return,

But whats the point of having a vehicle if you cant make it "YOURS". When you have a unique vehicle, one that is tailored to your preferences and your style, that pays for itsself in my book.

On the other hand .... Harley Davidson ... the more mods the more money .

I bought my bike for 7k .. retail on it stock was 12.5 .. I dumped 9k in it so far this year .
Had it appraised for insurance purposes .. 25k ... meaning I can make 9k on it if I sell .. witch im not !

Trucks and cars your screwed with mods .. Harleys hold value and grow each year with more mods = more money ... weird

That line of thinking is fine as long as you understand that mods are not an investment.

As much as I love modding my truck, I would NEVER by someone else's modded truck. Most people that mod vehicles are guys in their 20s. In a buyers mind that equals rode hard and put away wet. Remember, perception is reality.

I am fully aware that every cent I pour into mods is purely for entertainment value.

Ya mods are an awesome investment and a great way to make a vehicle yours, but before you start making them you need to think about how long you plan on keeping that vehicle and how much money your willing to put into something that you might want to get rid of down the road. The market for modded anything is very small because the majority of modded products out there are not done right. Occasionally you will be able to find a private dealer that will show interest in a modded vehicle, but with a dealership its gunna depreciate the value of your vehicle. Mainly because they dont know the quality of the work and the quality of the parts. (and they typically arent going to take your word for it) Im not saying that anyone here doesnt have quality work done or didnt do there mods right, its the people that dont do it right and take short cuts that have ruined it for the rest of us. I say Mod On, but always keep in mind that the value of a trade in goes down with everyone, and hang on to your OEM parts because you can always swap everything back out trade in the truck and sell the after market parts seperate.
