Plus.. The U.S. Senate passed three joint resolutions May 22 nullifying California's ability to set emissions standards for passenger cars, light duty vehicles and trucks. Which was adopted by many states, now all of it is in trash can.

You can look up the bill beautiful bills wording, probably a long read.
Just as I suspected- a news article’s “(mis)interpretation” of it. No EPA regulations have been repealed, just rescissions of funding for certain programs. That doesn’t really mean anything, because car manufacturers still have to meet the standards of the EPA regulations that are on the books. They’re going to continue meeting the standards that they are supposed to because they can’t gamble on 4 year political cycles (Tim Kuniskus even explains this).

The one that would matter for car manufacturers would be rescinding the 2009 Endangerment Finding. But that’s just a proposal, and needs to go through a public comment period, and probably years of lawsuits, and by that time probably scrapped by a different administration.

Either way, far from car manufacturers being able to build vehicles however they want.

Well, there is no way to sue and succeed for what congress just passed. So in order to fine someone, you would need an act of Congress to do so and the manu would still have a stronger argument against it for this new period of zero fine policy. Correct they "have to" abide by the act, however nobody can fine them for not doing so. Protest badge anyone, build a truck and be bold now zero fines? The thing that was more on shaky ground was not the repeal of fines but CA actually sending the industry into an emissions tailspin without property authority to do so. The USA never voted CA king of emissions, so the entire thing was faulty from day one with faulty science and faulty authority. Plus the carbon credit system was a monopoly producing program, to date Teslas number one revenue stream has been from people who bought gas vehicles, the only reason such a small manu has a stock price near Toyota.

CAFE is a joke, set up to fail, every manu this day needs to be at 50mpg, lol. So stupid, all it is was a way to extract money from the on shaky ground auto industry.

The second phase of the CAFE program runs from MYs 2022-2025 and represents non-final “augural” standards that are projected to require, on an average industry fleet-wide basis, 48.7-49.7 mpg in model year 2025.o now it is just like the food pyramid, only

So now it is as harmless as the food pyramid, we suggest your az to eat 3 helping of veggies every day, but we aren't going to fine you for it. CAFE super standards same ILK as food pyramid, lmao.

Ok...
RAM
The thermosat was an issue on gen1 grand wagoneer. Not on the 2025 RAM
The HO seems to be fine in the 2025 RAM.
Electrical is a current issue but not as wide spread as this forum makes it out to be.
Interior comfort and ride quality is the best in the business

GM
I have no info on the diesel, so no opinion.
My 2020 Camaro SS did blow a motor at 1 year old. The 6.2 not so good anymore. I know you said diesel l, so moot.
The ride quality and Interior are not even in the same sport as RAM

FORD
my neighbor has a gen1 ecoboost F150 and still going strong.
"electrical is a current issue" :D

Yup I have a new feature that started yesterday I think. I have never used the USB ports, but now they are telling me there is a problem hooking up to my device. Nothing in any of the plugs so a new feature. I really wonder how people trust self driving vehicles, IMG_8344.JPG

The EPA has nothing to do with CAFE standards. NHTSA administers them and they are not the same as emissions requirements, though there is some overlap because the formula to calculate the "fleet average" gets credits for things like stop/start that also reduce idle emissions. The original reason for CAFE was energy independence during the Arab Oil Embargo, nothing to do with EPA's mission of environmental policy.

Congress set the maximum fine for failure to comply to $0.00.

"This section effectively eliminates the civil penalty for a violation by a manufacturer of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards and the ability of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to enforce the standards. Under current law, NHTSA’s CAFE standards regulate how far vehicles must travel on a gallon of fuel. NHTSA enforces the standards through civil penalties. This section sets the civil penalty to $0 for a violation by a manufacturer of the CAFE standards."

https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1 if you want to read it yourself, just search section 40006

So, yes, it absolutely does mean something. For one, GM and Stellantis won't have to either pay Tesla for credits or pay gov't fines for not meeting CAFE standards. Emissions credits are separate, but CAFE standards cost millions a year that can now stay in house.

So, I've had my 2020 Big Horn for five years now and love it, so I wanted to get another Ram, but maybe go nuts and get a Limited this time.
Was SO frustrated when I realized I couldn't get one without the ram boxes. Insane. Have gone through the online build-a-Ram at least 20 times to confirm with no way of getting rid of them. Until JUST NOW! It appears if you don't add the Level A group, it doesn't add the boxes. Still a bummer, but wanted to share what I think is a possible work-around for some, if true.

I would verify that with a dealership if you're that concerned about the rambox. The Ram build website is known to have mistakes, but it does appear they removed the Rambox Cargo Management System from the list of standard features for 2026 on the Limited.

It's all good, I'm not judging anyone for liking or disliking the rambox bed. They aren't for everyone. And if you need to use a topper there are only a couple of them that work with on a rambox bed.
