I am buying a 2004 ram 3500 from my neighbor. The thing is awesome and has been well taken care of. 65500 miles on it and it lived under shelter most of its life.

I need to get some new tires and also want to get new wheels.

It looks like I can do 17" or 18" wheels and still have a lot of options. I would like to hear what others recommend.

Currently the truck has 265/70/r17s. I wanted to get either 275/70/17 or 275/65/r18. Both appear like they would fit. I plan on getting BFG ko2 (which is the tire I have loved for years). I do light off roading mainly in the form of logging roads in very poor shape.

If anyone has any recommendations on what wheel size they would choose, I would love to hear recommendations before I order. Thanks!

Judging by the picture, if you plan on keeping the camper unit on it, I would work on the suspension first and worry about wheels/tires after.

Agree on suspension - looks to have an issue there - probably nose up on headlights too.

But as to tires, the 275/65R18 is probably not the best 18 inch option, the current 2500 and SRW 3500s use LT275/70R18 Load Range E.

The LT275/70R18 are slightly larger than the LT275/65R18 Load Range E but much easier to find and less likely to get confused with a LT275/65R18 Load Range C used on Ford F150 Lariats for a while or the P275/65R18 currently in vogue on SUVs.
