sooooo,

2012 1500 sport 4x4

I installed a zone 4” lift. I also replaced upper and lower control arms, front springs and sway bar links. Installed bills at 1st ring (3rd and 2nd ring gave me a rearward rake).

I now get a pop or a clunk in the front end. It happens at low speeds.i feel like its more prevalent while turning and on incline too. It sounds like its something binding and releasing really quick.

I cant figure it out.

Assuming that the control arms most likely came with ball joints, the next most common popping or clunking comes from tie rod ends. Especially when you’re talking about on turns and even more so hard turns with the rack fully locked 1 way or the other. Also, check your axle boots to make sure that they aren’t split and the grease is all gone. If you do see that, then the noise is even more likely to be coming from your axle u joints and it’s best to replace the whole axle assembly as opposed to just the boot and some grease. Last thought coming to me would be the upper strut mounts. Usually they make that kind of noise going over bumps though.

Zone lift came with new tie rod ends. Required to cut 5/8” of the tie rod too.

Both cv axles look fine from the outside

IVe been checking the strut nuts daily

Thanks for the reply

I just want to make sure I’m clear and not misunderstanding you. I wasn’t talking about the bolts at the top and bottom of the struts. I’m actually talking about the mounts themselves. The rubber tends to wear and break (sometimes visibly and sometimes not) but it causes the strut to go up higher until a metal plate hits the actual body basically causing a popping or clunking noise. It’s the top piece between the body and the strut itself. It’s basically a rubber and metal plate assembly.

You mean the damper and top plate? The piece the studs are welded to?

If so, all of that is new

I’ve got a Zone 4” lift as well. Had it “professionally” installed. As I don’t (or didn’t) have any front end noise, I did have it in the rear. And I’m just throwing this out there. I’m about 99% sure, the installer tightened the rear control arms while the truck was on a lift. Once the truck was lowered to the ground, severe tension was placed on the rear control arms causing them to clunk and squeak like crazy and got worse over time. I also had pretty bad vibration. I’m going to assume the truck needs to be sitting on the ground before tightening/torquing suspension bolts. I may be wrong, but replacing the upper and lower rear control arms fixed all my issues.

Yes torque on the ground. Also there has to be a common problem going on. Everyone with the noise no one can figure out coming from the zone lift. I'm usually great finding suspension noises I did it for years and was usually the go to at the shop but this one has me stumped
