Hey guys, I just traded in my 2005 Ford F250 6.0 PSD in for an 2006 Ram 1500 4wd 5.7L Hemi that I found with 35k on the ticker. I know pretty crazy going from a Ford to Dodge. Anyways, I would like to level the truck and Ive seen there is a few ways of doing this between leveling kit, shocks, cranked torsion keys... Is there anyone better than the other as for ride quality and durability? Also what size tires can I fit without serious rub? I am wanting to keep the factory 20s and maybe powder coating them black. All of my experience with lifted trucks has been solid front axles on my old super duty and jeeps.

You could either go with Bilstein 5100's which will give you up to 2" of lift in the front. Or you can get the Hells Bent Steel leveling kit which i heard is good quality for price.

I was looking at top gun customz 2.5" kit they have for pretty cheap. I got the kit I had on my super duty from them they make pretty good stuff too. What about tire size with the leveling kit?

Welcome to the forum. :) You should be able to clear stock width 35's on a 2.5" leveling kit. If you went with a wider tire you would need spacers to avoid rub.

Ummm well i personally have a 4inch suspension lift on and 35" toyo m/t's and my front tires rub not often at all but at some rare moments. So you can try to fit 35's i have seen it done but thats just my two cents. and 2.5" kit would make it level.

where do your tires rub. the issue for you might be the width of the tire, not the height.

Welcome to RF!

I ran the TGCz 1.5" Leveling kit on my '00 Ram 4x. I was very impressed with the quality of the product. I had it for 3-4 years without any issue.

I think virtually any leveling kit would do the same thing. HBS is a site sponsor here, offers a discount for memebers.

I would replace all the shocks at the same time, just to make you feel that the you 'improved' the ride.

For tires, I would run a 275/65R20. Stock Powerstroke size tire. They are great. Nice and tall (34") to fill the wheel wells, but narrow enough to not rub / wear stuff out / follow the road excessively. The Wrangler AT/S's worked awesome on my 1500, I plan on running a set on this truck when my factories where out. The DuraTrac is also a great tire if you are wanting a more 'aggressive' look.

Thanks for the info guys, I think you are right about the 275s instead of the 35s not wearing out the drive train and keeping some sort of gas mileage.
