Trying to make sense of this. Looking over the specs, the 35in tire is actually less in terms of width and diameter according to there fitment guide, but it weighs almost 8 pounds more. It says it has more tread though, is that common in terms of 35's? Taking a 600 mile road trip and need new tires before I go.I have Billsteins, but not installed yet so hoping either would fit well enough to allow me to drive until I get them installed. Any input is appreciated greatly!

Depending on how high you truck sits on the stock rubber the 285 65 20 will fit most 4th Gen 1500s stock. Both of mine are 37.5" ground to highest point on the wheel well lip and no rubbing. My 11 rubbed a little before I put a small level in the front. My 17 sits the same height as my 11 without a lift. If you go to a 35X12.5 you'll need to sit at least 39" with the stock 285 60 20 tire and either run a different offset rim or a 1/4" spacer to make them fit well. There's a lot of threads on this on this very site already that can give you all the details. This is my 17 on ridge grapplers 285 65 20. The suspension is aired up 2" from normal in the picture, but it clears fine in normal as well.

Thanks for the fast response. I was referring to the 35/11.5 not the 12.5 I know that won't fit stock. Really appreciate your input though

Sorry. I see 35 and my brain always goes straight to 12.5. Same rules apply only no spacer or offset required on the rims.

I was looking at the same tires for awhile. I noticed the same thing that the 35x11.5s were actually smaller according to their charts but I dont think the 285s were a E rated tire either and the 35x11.5s were. I think that is why they are heavier. Stiffer material/rubber. I may be wrong though. I also noticed when checking out other brands that the 33 or 35s had deeper tread than 285s etc.

I'm just curious as to if it changing the appearance much. Being geared at 3.21, I don't want a tire that's so heavy I'm sluggish off the line so if it doesn't change much of the appearance, being E rated isn't a huge factor for me. Thanks for your input frosty

Sure thing. I ended up going with falken Wildpeaks instead of the ridge grapplers just because of price. The only thing I don't like is the sluggish feeling. Mostly when on the highway. Doesn't like to stay in MDS very well. But I went up in size and they are known as a heavy tire. Be sure to post pics of them when you get them!!

Looking at the same size tire as well. How is drive-ability and how do they look?

I'm on stock chrome clads with stock suspension for now and honestly could go without the Billsteins if I hadn't already bought them. I think it looks perfect now. Ride so far smooth as silk will try to get pics tomorrow weather sucks here right now

Could probably use the Billsteins for when you go on rugged terrain so it doesn't flex into the wheel well, but I'm loving the look 3acf14e8bef0cfa536c45e7881d1a062.jpg8b3eb78a42a88e3f3e8cfe47a92ccdce.jpg
