While straightening up around the garage today I had my oem rear coil springs together and noticed one of them is about 1/2” longer than the other. I had my lift installed by a shop so I have no idea what coil was on what side.

For you guys that are doing lifts, replacing rear coils or adding spacers, could you please do them one side at a time and write down the part number with it’s corresponding side and post that info here?

2017 CrewCab Hemi 8sp 5’bed 4x4

My part numbers are:
  • 05154649AA (18-3/4”)
  • 68307041AA (18-1/4”)

For the record I didn’t have any lean as I’ve heard others having, my dims before lifting were within 1/8-1/4 of each other side x side

Wish I knew which one was on what side lol

Was the longer coil on the pass side to offset for the weight on the drivers side fast tank?
or
Was the longer coil on the drivers side due to the extra fuel weight?

The longer one should go on the side of the fuel tank if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I’ve heard a few members mention they had different part numbers but I searched and couldn’t find the info. Sometimes my search skills are great and sometimes I can’t find anything lol

I don't have any of the factory stuff as i threw everything away, but i'm sure my rear springs were the same size, are you sure the shop didn't mix your coils by mistake ?

Wow, do we know if only affected 11’s Sports? I measured both factory rears in my 14 express crew cab and both were 18.5

Mines a 2017, they probably used different springs at some point due to all the complaints from people of the nascar lean. My truck never had a lean

I checked the coils I took off my 14. They have different part numbers but they appear to be the same height.

Thanks, we’re your Eibach rear coils side specific?

Looking at the new Bilstein rear coils and they are side specific

Now that i think about it, If i remember correctly one of my Icon springs were off by 1/8" (longer), i didn't think too much of it since i thought it might have a been a little imperfection, i threw that one under the driver rear side just in case since the gas tank is in there. Icon doesn't say they're side specific, i always measure just in case since i had a lean in my FJ, Taco and JKU, always following the gas tank side/battery etc (1/2, 5/8, noticeable lean) and in every case i corrected with a trim spacer after changing shocks/springs etc.. the RAM also has a slight lean in the driver side, which i have corrected now with the coilovers, haven't measured the back since it doesn't appear noticable, just like stock, from what i remember it was 1/8 or 1/4 front/rear, makes me wonder if the difference in springs is more to account for those with the huge gas tank ? i think we have 2 options a 25 gallon and a 32 gallon tank ?

I remember reading something about this when I ordered new springs, I paid very close attention and my stock springs were the exact same length and the Tuff Truck springs I put in were not “side specific” and were also the same length.

That sounds more likely why that spring is 1/2" longer ? 32 gallons of gas must weight around 200 lbs vs 150lbs for 25, it doesn't sound like a lot but what other explanation for that 1/2" difference in spring lenght on one side ?, unless somebody was smoking pot at the factory and they let the wackos get away with that chit for a couple of days :)

I also measured my truck today, 39 1/2 on both sides front, 41" both sides in the back.
I had about 1/8-1/4" difference stock, leaning towards the gas tank.

Thanks everyone, so we’re relatively sure the longer coil goes on the drivers side?
