The titles weird I'll admit but I struggled with the right words. Anyway so 2015 5.7l Big horn (~137k miles, and 487 idle hours), yesterday I drove about 3 miles to the store. Yesterdays high was like 38* so still a little chilly, I left it warm up for prolly 5 minutes then goosed it a bit on the highway ~5 minutes later.
Stopped at the store, went in and got my stuff. Came back out and started it back up immediately check engine light and a chime caught my attentions. Flipping through the menus to the summary page I noticed oil pressure was 0. So I immediately shut it off. Waited to a count of 5 then started it back up and everythings fine. Drove it the longer way back home and watched the numbers. Gauge hovered around mid-way. Summary screen showed 52-55 in motion, and 36-38 at idle.

Oil pressure has never been an issue before, and I will admit I did not think to look at the manual gauge but I'm attributing it to a sensor fluke. I have not put the code reader on it because.. well I forgot yesterday. I will do it later to see if it triggered one, but I wanted to ask just in case, if anyone else had had this happen before?

Bought it late last year and did not have the weather to go through everything before it got ****** cold outside. Perhaps a sensor replacement or a cleaning if possible should be on the docket.

Just asking the basic question....did you check the oil level? (engine not running..clean off the dipstick and insert ALL the way down).

Sorry I only put those last details in there b/c there have been a couple guys here who never checked the oil between changes, or weren't doing it properly.

Oh and correction.. at idle it doesn't get that low. It's between 43 and 46. Wit an ambient temp of ~20*F. And no code logged...

Speaking of oil pressure sensors.. any chance there's a how-to on replacing one? I wonder if it's got a tiny hole that I could perhaps clean out.

You can probably find several video's on youtube if you google howto replace the sensor. It's pretty easy to change. There should be an upgraded one for your 15,as they had issues with them in 14 and 15.I had to replace my oil pressure sensor on my 14 when it had a little over 12,000 miles on it,but mine went the opposite way,it constantly read 99 psi. A quick start and shut off, would blow the hole clean, but it's gonna make a big mess.
