Yoooo, been a while but I'm back, but not because I bought a RAM tho. I just began an update to a previous build. Found here...

http://www.ramforum.com/f51/custom_rcsb_door_panel_build_4_x_6_5_s-53960/

Guy is looking for an upgrade to negate the hearing loss incurred over the past year, so this go round we're going with 8 - 6.5" and 4 - super tweeters...... Per door.

Goals:
To be loud as F***
Withstand abuse of a, well over, 150 db vehicle

Panel will be vinyl wrapped to match interior.
The baffle will be black stained pine with edge lit plexi perimeter and a etched plexi glass window with the company logo.

For myself, I want this to be a "put me on the map" type of build. I've been doing jobs for local guys for a bit, and for the most part they just want the cheapest option possible with no regards for craftsmanship/materials used etc... Now I have the chance to put my skills to the test and see what I can come up with and make these guys see what they're missing out on.

Here's the panels as I received them

First step was to take a 1/4 sheet of mdf and trace the outline of the panel. This will basically just add strength to the backside. I also started working out different arrangements of the speakers

First attempt was to kerf a few strips to make the frame...

Now I plan on having a border with some edge lit plexiglass so whatever size the frame, I need to subtract about an 1" all the way around. This was just too tight

Plan B was to cut some more of the panel and move the tweeters up, and cut the bottom corner some more to give more length for the speakers.

Now that I'm pretty sure I can fit all this **** on the door, something I wanted To incorporate, pending space, was to add etched backlit plexi glass with the guys company logo.

In the pic, you can see above the tweets where this logo will go

Of course this is all trial and error so nothing up to this point is permanent so well see how it goes

Edit: my bad. Thought the cardboard speaker templates were actually holes already cut. Oops.
