So I've been looking at getting one of these for the past couple of weeks, but I have some concerns.

Firstly, without an adapter, you're forced to plug directly into the 4 prong trailer lighting port on the bumper. This seems very unsightly to me.

Secondly, there is apparently wiring that must be done in order to have functional reverse lights on the bar.

Sounds to me like this thing isn't really "plug-and-play" as I've heard. Is there another product that comes with the necessary items to get a light running and fully functional? Or do all of them require a lot of extra accessories and wiring work?

I have one its awesome. You splice into the reverse lights, piece of cake. Also you can buy an adapter on amazon so you dont have to plug into the 4 prong on the front.

I have the OPT7 Redline triple on my truck. I posted up in another thread about what you are talking about. I bought a Curt "T" harness and used that to plug in the OPT7 Redline. I tapped into the center white wire of the 7 pin to get the reverse lights to work.

This is the adapter:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...age_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=viglink21284-20

The other harness adapter you could use is this one by Curt:

https://www.amazon.com/CURT-56584-C..._rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=XS1XQPNPTA1YYEYRV3AT

This one has a 5 pin end instead of the 4 pin end. You could plug in the 4 pin harness into the end, and the 5th open hole on the plug part, you take the white wire for the OPT7 Redline reverse light, put a bullet connector on the white wire and pop it into the open hole for your reverse light on the LED light bar.

I think most of the LED tail gate light bars, folks use the Curt harnesses to make them work. Recon, OPT7's or any of the other ones.

I still have yet to see one in the wild that all the LEDs work on when activated. Seems like there is always atleast 1 that isnt working. Of course I have no idea of the brands.
