Out of town again, another issue

Alright, this is getting old... we left town to go see the kids Grandma, and part of the way, the fuel Guage dropped to empty... I restated the truck and it functioned properly (1/4 tank). 5 min later it dropped again. a quick search by my copilot turned up a fuel sending unit issue. I'm wondering if I'd be barking up the wrong tree by asking insurance to look after the issue as the tank was out of the truck in March (ish) for gas in the tank.
