I have a 2007 6.7, Cummins with 110k miles, it runs good but keeps getting this code P0489-egr Control Circuit Low. A local mechanic he said it might be carbon in the catalytic converter and suggested running it hard to maybe blow out the carbon, which I have tried with no improvement. In general it has always run clean no smoke from exhaust. Also occasionally get P2089 another egr issue. I picked up a Haynes manual but it was not much help

Take the egr off the intake horn and clean it with Purple Power. That should take care of the P0489.

P2089 is for a gas engine from what I’m coming up with. Are you sure that’s the code?

Out diesel 6.7’s do not have a cam control. That’s for gas engines. We have a cam shaft sensor, but no variable valve timing.

Thank you Fuel 35-67 for your idea, now I just have to figure out how to do it.
