Well, just checked the Grand Cherokee my wife drives. At 40K miles the rear pads could use to be replaced in another 10,000 miles, so will do them now, fronts are still fine. It is pretty much all city driving miles so lots of stop and go. My pickup, which is all not city, despite being 50% heavier, the brakes still look brand new at the same mileage.

Ordered Powerstop Z36 from Rock Auto, because even with exchange and shipping, WAY cheaper than buying them in Canada, as in about half.

Adaptive cruise control is the issue with premature rear brake wear. From my experience.

I developed the habit of applying the parking brake, once stopped and before I shift from D to P with the knob.

It's a recommendation from a dealer tech friend of mine, who says it's a way to decrease wear on the electronic parking prawn. Yeah, it sounded like an old wife's tale to me as well.

So since doing this, I noticed, better rear to front braking bias, less dive when braking, especially hard braking, and increased rear pad wear. Just had to do rear brakes and rotors on my RCSB at 80k.

My experience, not saying it everyone's experience.
