Painted my taillights and third brake light

been wanting to do this for a while. Went to my local Napa store, got me some 1500 grit sand paper and a bottle of black paint. 3 light coats of paint, 2 coats of rattle can clear. What you all think. First time doing it, not bad for a amateur lol

It’s a chance I’ll have to take! I did make sure that the lights are good and visible whe applying the brakes and turn signal, but of course, certain cops can be ***** at anytime and give me a ticket

It looks good, but I hope the brake lights show up enough on a sunny day. I had tinted tails on my 05 and I remember almost getting rear ended a few times.

I’ll take a picture with the brakes on later. I know for sure they show very well. I only applied 3 very thin coats of paint, I can see right thru the taillights where I look at them

I support the Blue 110%, matter of fact have the flag on the truck. But you are correct, not all Policemen are created equal.

My crack is stockings-free. But your tail lights are midnight black and wildly unsafe for those behind you. If you get a ticket (or worse, rear ended), don’t dare blame the cop, he didn’t spray paint your tail lights, you did.

I support the blue 100% also. But there is bad apples with every position.

I l’ll take a picture later showing you that you dead wrong about the tail lights being midnight black. Making the assumption that the are midnight black is ludacris

The first picture looks pretty transparent.

Were you able to sand that orange peel off? They look pretty shiny mounted on the truck.

I think I got lucky on the taillights, after applying the two coats of clear , they were very smooth, no orange peal. I did the third brake light separate after feeling confident in how the taillights come out, and after applying the second coat of clear I noticed they were rough. So I grabbed some rubbing compound after drying , and got them pretty smooth. I’m definitely no a expert on painting at all!!

Yes I think if you make your tail lights along with the brake lights, Darker your asking for a accident. You could be at fault in a crash because you altered approved D>O>T lighting equipment on your vehicle. Not a smart move Just saying

Here it is. So you tell me that you cannot see this light on ? It’s in direct sunlight also! If someone can’t see this , their license should be suspended for being blind
