I have one from Griots Garage and very happy with it. When I ordered mine, there was a longer cord option for it and I went with that. The longer cord works well w/o using an extension.

I have a Dewalt DEWALT Buffer/Polisher, Variable Speed, Soft Start, 7-Inch/9-Inch (DWP849X) got it from amazon and I use this when I need to do some serious paint correction but you have to be careful with this one as you can easily burn through your clear coat and paint if you don't know how to use it ...

Then I have this one from Griots which I got at Autozone and I use it quite often to do light polishing after a good detail to remove light swirl marks and scratches or the hologram effect that you can get from using a polisher like the dewalt ...

It also depends on how much paint correction you are going to need ... if you need something to remove some serious paint rash then go with a rotary from harbor freight for like $50 and a Griots random or (dual action) to maintain your paint ... The Griots is really the best if you want to add wax or remove slight swirl marks or scratches that are not deep after a wash ....

The Griots I also use on my wheels to keep the looking good

Griot's G9 or Harbor Freight dual action (though I have not read if the "Bauer" version is different than the old school Chicago Tool)

I have the HF Chicago Tool version and for the money its great. Much more power than what I started with (Porter Cable).

Two mods I suggest: open up the gear case, clean out the crap grease they used and install some better stuff. And get a better backing pad (Lake Country, etc)

I have the Porter Cable HD for several years. Never needed anything else. I bought the "HD" version from Autogeeks. They put a longer heavier gauge cord on it and call it HD. Very satisfied.

I have a Porter cable 7424xp. Been happy with it. Got it as part of a chemical guys package. Also bought a Velcro backed sander pad for it I've used for bodywork. Little over a hundred bucks for the unit and fits whatever backing pad you want to use with 5/16 thread.

I use a Meguiars orbital polisher and I just ordered today a Griots G8 mini polisher to get those tight spots.

I have a PC, Hitachi Rotary and a Flex... The Flex 3401 is what i use 99% of the time. It's the best of both worlds and easy to use. Not cheap, but really good.

I've been using a Porter Cable with Griot's and Meguiars. It came with a Meguiars package deal years ago. Works great!
