So I'm looking to get a little better throttle response and faster acceleration out of my ram what would you guys suggest my best route to go first trying to be kinda budget friendly as well guess a better way to ask is what would you upgrade first if that's what I'm looking for? Also are these performance chips the ones that boost mpg and HP legit and safe for the trucks? Any input on those would be appreciated too thanks in advance

I'd recommend the Banks Pedal Monster. Tried and true technology, solid performance, wide variety in adjustments can be made and I really was impressed with the results when I installed it on my truck.

Those "chips" you are referring to...if they are those inline snake oil pieces I'd look for something else that really works.

You can also go the with a new PCM, a programmer and a custom tune with bolt on performance parts but that's way more expensive than the Pedal Monster

If throttle response is what your after and on a budget there is no better option than the Banks Pedal Monster. We have these in stock typically and if your interested in a quote message me. These are adjustable to suit your style of driving. It is the safest one on the market of its type and proven to improve throttle response.

If you want more power and throttle response, we have those options as well but that gets harder to fit in smaller budgets.

Those pedal things do "work", but all they are doing is changing your pedal-to-throttle ratio on the low end. It will feel more responsive but it's just hitting the gas harder for you, which you can do yourself for free. Hence my suggestions actually change what your truck can do, not just change your perception. But....they are your cheapest option.

This here ^^^^^^ is the 'best' way IMO. I went with HPTuners setup, and a new PCM. Then I did the 'tuning' myself, just very mild timing changes, throttle response adjustment, trans shift points, and turn off MDS, plus a few tweaks to get the ECT (engine coolant temp) lower. The beauty of this setup is I have access to everything. Total cost ~$1500, but it opens up all worlds....................

And if I wanted, I could get a complete custom tune from someone like Flyin' Ryan and probably get another 20 or 30 horsepower, but then I'd have to run Premium gas (at ~$1 more per gallon) and since I don't beat on my truck at all, it's not worth it for me. My truck (with just mild tweaks) has great power and response now, especially with trans shift points set higher and 3.92 gears.

Throttle response, I recommend Pedal Commander, many settings to match your foot pressure and desired response. No, the little chips don't do anything to mention... You'd be better off getting Throttle Body Spacer, S&B Cold Air intake to go with Pedal Commander, mileage gets better 2-4 mpg's to boot. Don't know your gearing but us that have 3.92 will always have more Torque and delivered HP to wheels.

Man you fell for the Kool-Aide didn't you. They don't add any horsepower or torque, all they do is make the gas pedal react faster,no differant then if you step on the pedal quicker. They don't change timing or fueling,so it's impossible for them to add power

No different than gear ratio, one turn of the drive shaft producing more turns of the axle. Less pedal movement with the sooner response nothing else.

Throttle body spacer is a gimmick. We get requests for them on occasion and I give them the truth. We can but choose not to sell them. We dont believe in taking peoples money for total BS products. Throttle response controllers do have some value, they dont add hp/tq or gain mpg but they do fool the butt dyno into making you think there is more power and the throttle response is vastly improved. They are not a gimmick, consumers just need to be educated on what a product like that is actually providing. I think the Banks Pedal Monster is worth the small investment for the difference it makes

The "universal ECU chips" that plug into the obd port do nothing at all, their just a box with blinking lights. There are some chips (not sure if there's one for ram) that plug into your maf sensor and makes the engine think it's colder and runs a little rich but the o2 sensors will calibrate that out.

I have a Pedal Commander PC-31, and I couldn't be happier.
The price was right, and I now experience my Hemi just like I recall driving the V8s of the '70s & '80s.

I understand exactly how it functions, no additional HP or torque, but Wow!
You have to relearn how to use the accelerator pedal so you don't leave too much rubber on the road. And, I use the setting of City +4, which is on the lower end of the scale.

I refuse to own a recent model V8 without adding one of these or a similar device.
For the low cost versus satisfaction, I can't imagine anything that comes close.

If money were no object, a Banks Pedal Monster would be my first choice.

I wouldn't expect that any of these types of devices will improve acceleration and mileage at the same time.
Some make those claims, but what they should indicate is that you must choose one or the other.

Installing an accelerator controller and setting it for more delay to increase mpg would be kind of stupid, but it takes all kinds.
