I had power stop oem replacement brake kit installed on my 2016 ram 1500 big horn. They have been on the truck for about 2 to 3 months. They started squeeling about a month ago and the mechanic can't figure it out. He has greased everything and they are still squeeling. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do to stop the squeeling?

Change the pads to Akebono ACT-PRO if you're using it as a daily driver or ASP Ultra Performance (NAPA sells them as Euro) if you tow with your truck. I believe Power Stop rotors are made of G3000 grey steel, so the quality should be on par with just about everything else. I just got my Power Stop Z36 kit, however, I plan on using different pads to get more life out of the rotors. The pads aren't really matched to the rotors, you match them when you bed your pads in. Wagner OEx is also a sensible option. Of course, if money is not a problem, then go with EBC pads and rotors, however, they tend to give mixed results in brake dust and noise, but they will stop your truck for sure. I also got a 2016 Big Horn btw.

How do you need brakes correctly ? Thanks
Warm up the brakes by slowing from around 45 mph to 15 mph a few times, then brake hard 3-4 times from 60 mph to around 15 mph.

Brake hard == brake as hard as you can without triggering the ABS or locking up any wheels.

Sometimes the brake pads will glaze over, making them hard. If you remove and chamfer the edges, it should cure your problem. I have seen more expensive pads come already ground slightly to alleviate this kind of noise. This is just one scenario that could be the culprit...but i have done it before to cure a spine tingling squeal. Picture is reference only.

Get tired of living with it try wagner oex, super quiet and non dusting, 4 slots to dissipate heat. Those are carbon fiber correct? wagner oex is ceramic, but they stop so better then oem I cant explain it. 50 bucks, fairly easy dyi just swap pads.

composite versus performance, note noise.

you can try anti sieze on all the moving non pad parts, it is what most mechanics do. if it moves or possible brushes up something that does, wipe anti sieze on it. I wouldnt touch the pads, if it came to that, just replace them.

research ceramic versus metallic brakes and noise, plenty of info out there.
