hey guys, i have a 2012 4x4 with the 5.7 and just had my "SVC 4wd" light come on, after about a day or two of having a slight vibration in the floorboard directly underneath the driver.

I have 54k on the odometer and this is my first 4wd truck. i usually have no problem working on my own vehicles but all have been 2wd thus far, and i purchased the "lifetime warranty" from Ram when i purchased the truck.

any thoughts on what to look for or what my course of action should be? i really dont wanna be bent over a barrel by RAM for work i could do myself, or work that SHOULD be covered under warranty...

I would check the u joints on the front drive shaft and if those are good then I would take it to the dealer and have them check out the transfer case.

This may sound dumb but check your connector. It may have vibrated loose or possibly snagged on something. Underneath passenger side by wheel.

A worn universal joint will not cause a service 4wd warning to come on. If you have warranty, don't waste your time, just take it to a dealer. If you want to, you can check connectors and make sure everything is tight, but you need to pull the trouble codes to tell you why the light is on.

Using the remote start can give you the 4W service warning light. Don't know the fix but mine does it consistently.
