I’ve done a lot of searching around here before I buy my retro parts but I have some questions.
I don’t want to cheap out at all, and want a good crisp cutoff. Was looking at the morimoto mini h1 7.0. Can I go cheaper with good output?
Do any of the projectors on the retrofit source fit without cutting the lense? I understand I have to dremel the hole. That’s no issue.
What shrouds fit best? There are a lot of options. Are halos eAsy to add as Drl’s? I live in Canada so currently my high beams on low are my drl...

Do I need the cAnbus harness or the one marked 14+ mopar?

Trucks a 2018 1500 big horn black package. Sorry for the newb questions.

Mini H1's should not have an issue with fitting into the low beam, reflector part. There are several build threads on here using the Mini H1's.

You would need the Mopar 15+ harness for it. I ordered everything from The Retrofit Source.

Check out my build thread in my signature.

You can go cheaper with a crisp cut off line. The cut off line relates to your HID setup. That being said buying parts that are known to work well together will keep complications to a minimum. As far as minimizing that amount of trimming you have to do depends on projector sir and shroud size. I know with the 2.5" projector and Gatling gun shroud there is little to no trimming as compared to a 3" projector with a full size shroud has you trimming more than you would of thought possible. Good luck with your build and keep us posted on your progress. We can help and learn from it.

Good info guys. Thanks a lot. I guess I’ll just dive in and order the kit from the retro source. I think it’s 420$

I’ll correct myself here. The ram specific retrofit kit comes in at $440 and list everything needed. However the projectors are listed at morimoto h1. So not sure if this is with the 7.0? I sent them an email to confirm.

However if I piece together a kit with the mentioned projectors, the 2015+ ram specific hid kit, mini Gatling shrouds and bulb holders I am still way under 440, more closed to $340. Am I missing something here? The ram specific hid kit says it comes with the mopar harness? Is the retro kit more money for a reason?
I’m confused? Keep in mind I have Two sets of bulbs in my kit by accident. Can anyone shed some light?

Did you find answers to the price differences? I'm curious too.

I think the retroquik kit uses FXR projectors, and not the MH1's.

I am still waiting to hear back from the retrofit source. I read somewhere they are closed until the new year.
I’m thinking I will order them separate and make my own kit. I don’t see why not if it’s 80$ cheaper.

I believe that there is extra hardware/mounts in the retrofit kit from them that are specific to their retrofit kit. There is also the retro-rubber sealant, seals, JB Weld, and the high beam splitters included. Possibly the reason in the price difference.

I was able to mini D2S 3" in there with no trimming and full size shroud. I had to drill out the hole of course but the shrouds I didnt touch. Some had to shave a bit but I was a few mm on the closest side away.

That’s good to know man. I’m thinking I will still go with the 2.5s.
