I have a ‘99 6-spd 4x4 with the following mods:
Hx35-R GEN V turbo
150hp injectors
Rpm valve springs
ARP head studs
QZIQPS98 Quadzilla Adrenaline w Quad+
After owning this truck from new, I decided upon the above upgrades for more performance. When the Quadzilla was installed, I immediately got a P0237 code. A Quadzilla tech assured me this was a result of the old MAP sensor being on its last legs and the install killed it. They explained aftermarket and counterfeit parts will not last so I replaced it with a NOS Cummins part and got the same code. Thinking the NOS part was a fake and I just got burned, I replaced it with a MAP sensor direct from Cummins but get same code. If code is cleared, it comes back immediately without starting truck.
Disconnecting the tuner and reconnecting stock wiring results in no code. Quadzilla has checked out the tuner on their gen 2 and tell me there is no problem, they even sent another MAP sensor but it made no difference. All the wiring has been checked for continuity. At this point, they tell me there is nothing else they can do for me as the problem has to be in the truck and not the tuner.
I bought this truck new, it has no hacked up wiring or corrosion issues. The VP44 was replaced in 2008 or so and I've run a Smarty since then, the ECM is stock. About a year ago the Smarty had comm issues which were attributed to the ECM RAM going bad, this was repaired and the Smarty worked again.
At this point, the big injectors make EGT get out of control with the mountains around here. I've played with the Smarty settings and have it where it can be driven without eyes stuck on EGT gauge but it'll never tow and has no low end, basically I've spent a lot of money to have less of a truck...
Has anyone experienced this issue? Could it be the repair of the ECM RAM and reflash cause these MAP sensor codes?
Any help at all will be appreciated!!!
