Hi everyone,

I have the "full size spare" on my truck right now, and I found out it is only a 17" wheel. My truck has the factory 20", how long would it be ok to use this tire? I have class about 40 minutes away and my girlfriend has been driving on it for a week or so and I noticed a slight whining noise. Thanks

I would try to get a used/new tire back on pretty soon, I think runnin different sized wheels for too long can mess something up

As long as the overall diameter is really close (less than .25" inch) you should be absolutely fine

Did your truck come from the factory with the 20s? I thought the trucks that came with them from the factory had 20" spares?

The overall tire height is the same on both the 20" tires and the spare, it is just the rim that is smaller. I had to use mine once the tread looks like something you would but on a crotch rocket.

no rhyme or reason. Some have some don't - whatever was within hand reach at the time of assembly imo lol. Nice that we got a spare unlike now with new vehicles.

Yep as SunburstHemi notied - As long as the overall height is the same then it will be ok. Remember a factory spare is what it so hopefully you get your actual rim/tire up and running soon.

^^^ That was what I was trying to say, I am not sure if I explained myself clearly enough.

if the size is different, put it on the front.

I put a full size 20" spare on mine. So much better than the 17" compact spare.
