Would be a bit leary especially knowing the area quite a few shady used dealers in the area. Make sure to look it over good. It is tuned looking at the pipe so that goes in to a whole other situation there if the stock parts don't come with it keep looking. Even of you plan on doing the same it pays to have the stock parts just in case as they are quite expensive if you ever have to put them back on.

Most definitely, sometimes the flood info isn’t listed on carfax which makes it even sketchier. Had no clue it was becoming common practice until I was in the market for my CTS-V recently.

I think a year before and below doesn't have DEF, I would never buy a diesel with DEF unless I had to.

Seams like a good price, and you will want to update the transmission, but the rfe is easily upgradable. If you get it let me know I can give you some rfe upgrades links.

You indicated both diesel and gas. There are differences in cost, use, and maintenance. The one you have identified is a diesel so maybe asking in that forum would help. But on your ask about gas, I personally prefer them as they have served me well in a 1500 and 2 2500s. Currently have a 2500 6.4. I believe that you will generally run out of payload before you run out of towing capacity in a 2500 and even faster when adding a diesel engine. If you are looking to max out towing you want to look at the 3500 or higher to really use the full potential of a diesel engine. However, if you just want that engine, in again refer you to the diesel thread as there a lot of great people around who can help. Good luck.
