this is the one im looking to buying
2.5" Electric Cutout Exhaust Bypass System
1: how exactly does it direct the flow out? is there a switch in the straighter pipe aswell? it seems like it could just go into the muffler.
2: are they weldable? dont have any clamps or anything in my exhaust.
3: dont really care if its illegal, but could it be considered illegal?

1) It's got a valve and when the valve is closed, the exhaust flows through the muffler, but when the cutout is open, the flow is directed through the cutout.
2) Weldable - yes, that's how I've got mine and would recommend doing it.
3) I guess depending on if you have a decibel level in your area. But with everyone else with loud exhausts, they aren't going to pay any more attention to mine.

I'd say I gained a little bit, but I was just going from the factory muffler before. If you've already got a flowmaster you probably won't really see a difference.

You will like the sound, be careful where you drive with them open.

I didn't weld mine in - for a few reasons:
inspection time, I'll pop it out and put the straight pipe back in for a few hours
if it farks up, cut it out, reweld. forget that. I had one go bad already
lease? LOL - gotta take it off when its time to go back.

Cutouts are real nice, my friend has some on his ram and they sound real good. You'll love 'em. As far as illegal, ya most states they are. I would recommend clamps so you can take it off if you want to be really safe for inspection like Jeremy said. I was even with my friend one day at a gas station, a cop pulled right next to him to fill up, and he started his truck right up and took off and the cop never even looked at us, and it was really loud. So I dont think you will have any problems with that.

1) The exhaust will leave through the path of least resistance (if the cutout is open, it will go through that exit)

2) Yes, here is a pic of my set up:

Note: It is NOT welded to the muffler..only to the pipe going into the cat. If you are going to have a pipe in between the muffler and cutout, it should be fine to weld.

3) Yes, it's most likely illegal in your state. You'll probably get a warning if you are respectful with the officer. What state are you located in?
