We replaced the Coolant Bypass valve with an aftermarket valve.
Engine light still on.
Replaced it with a 2nd IDENTICAL aftermarket in case it was defective and same.
Light staying off but showing up in the background.

I'm stuck looking up with the slowest internet on earth and have searched....but

DOES THIS NEED TO GO TO THE DEALER FOR A PCM UPDATE or can an indepenedent mechanic clear it or update it.
Or is this aftermarket valve need to go to OEM?
Need to fix it unfortunately on a budget and will not be keeping the truck past 1 more year.

Thanks!!!!!!

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but i'll guess that the active code cleared. What you are calling "showing up in the background", is a stored code.

The stored code will stay until after a certain number of drive / cooldown cycles without the problem occurring again.
