Hi Guys, love this truck because of the air suspension so want to fix it without breaking the bank. I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Limited, 5.7 Litre, vin# ICGRRTPT3HSS62990 and it just
came back from the dealer. I'll post the dealer notes below and add what I did at the bottom. Appreciate anyone's time thinking about this issue, my goal is to identify the next problem
and fix it without going to the dealer (need to build up the budget again lol). All parts were aftermarket.

Dealer notes:

Replaced RR and LR. air springs
Performed filing procedure for springs and reservoir
RF. RR, LR springs filled ok
LF spring has air leak, Connection where leak is appears to have liquid weld of
equivalent smeared on half of the air line connection on spring in what appears tc
be an unsuccessful attempt in sealing the system, Due to this reason LF spring
cannot be filed and will need replacement
Received replacement spring, installed LF air spring
Nitrogen fill block leaking at fitting disassembled block, cleaned contact points
and reinstalled
Performed filing procedure for springs and reservoir
ASCM timing out, vehicle stuck in off road 2
drove vehicle and attempted to raise and lower vehicle, ASCM timing out
Scanned vehicle, showing low airmass, Performed filling procedure for springs
and reservoir again, lowered vehicle and set to off road 2, gathered ride height
readings and left vehicle in plant mode for 15 hours in shop overnight, gathered
new ride height readings, readings show no indicator of air mass loss
Reset ASCM two times and lowered vehicle successfully , lifted vehicle but ASCM
timed out at off road 1 and would not allow vehicle to be lowered anymore. Drove
vehicle to force vehicle out of Off road 1 and into normal mode, parked vehicle
to and lowered vehicle to exit level, ASCM timing out when raising vehicle. dash
showing service air suspension
Pulled vehicle back into shop and scanned for DTC's
C1562-98, C15A1-00, C1526-76 present
Inspected LR ride height sensor, found damaged connector and seized pivot
disconnected connector and inspected contact points, no contact points corroded
Removed pivot, cleaned and lubricated and reinstalled
Viewed LR ride height sensor data, Sensor showing -1 00MM Height compared to
RR height sensor at 58MM
Replace LR ride height sensor and connector and retest

How the truck behaved

Picked up the truck was in off road 1.
Drove home which included highway driving. While driving was getting Service message on dash seemed to be periodically every 1-2 minutes.
Before got on the highway the truck tried to lower
to normal ride height but didn't lower and dash kept display lowering all the way home.
Next morning truck was in entry exit and hasn't moved up or down since then.
Been driving it daily and getting that periodic service message on the dash every day.

As per the dealer, I ordered an aftermarket RHS and wiring.
After taking off the dust cover I noticed the pivot arm hanging straight down, it wasn't on the small pivot ball.
I spliced in the new wiring and installed the sensor. Fired it up, after a few seconds, get service message.
May have crossed 2 wires - turns out I did. Re-wired it, couple of seconds later I hear a click and 1 very short release of air, (1-2 seconds).
Fired up truck and the service message gone.
In the driveway, tried the manual button to go up to normal ride height, truck still won't go up, compressor is running, no service message.
Reset it, using the 2 button press method, no changes. Shows in Entry Exit mode.
Went for a drive, took 2-3 minutes before it tried to raise to normal ride height, never did rise up from entry exit.
Get back home, stop start the truck, shows Normal ride height. Computer thinks it worked but it is stuck in entry exit or bump stops (18 inches from hub to fender)

I ordered a cheap scanner just to get the codes, hope it works. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01G5EA74I?ref_=pe_123916410_1039242100_t_fed_asin_title

My thoughts are valve block, just find it odd that all 4 corners don't move up ...

Oh, 1 more thing that may not be related, both rear proximity sensors aren't working, 1 is missing - can this impact the ASCM ??

If anyone finds the time to read this and provide any help that would be very much appreciate!! If someone could post a service manual that would help alot.

Thanks.

There's a few threads on the air system and repairing it. It's mostly just bags, lines, a valve block that distributes the air, nitrogen tank and compressor. Problem is leaks means no more nitrogen amd it draws air. That means moisture, which means issues when freezing and corrosion internally as there's no way to lubricate and flush out the system as convetional air systems. I recently gave up and switched to standard coil suspension. Not regretting it.

I hear you. Replaced my bags, new compressor and filled with nitrogen and found a broken rear level sensor. Waiting for that to arrive but pulled the compressor fuse to stop it pulling in outside air. But now every two days I’m the front lowers to the lowest setting and wait for it the back goes as high as off road 2. All with no compressor to move the gas around. What gives

Hi, the problem is O rings on all the fittings are SAE, they need to be replaced with Metric O rings. The problem is the O ring on the outside of the fittings. There are 17 of them. The O ring inside the fitting is OK. Each fitting has two small O rings where the tube goes into the fitting, they should be OK. Use a dental pick to pull out the external O ring on the fitting, use a metric one which is a little thicker, use white grease on the fitting, coat the new O ring and push it onto the fitting. DO NOT USE SEALANT. To install push hard with your hand to keep the fitting straight while tightening with 12 metric wrench, check it to see if it started be careful NOT to cross thread it, tighten to bottom it down. You will never see bubbles on these fittings with soap and water, the leak is too small. Try to tighten each fitting before you start, the fitting should be bottomed out, Mine were not tight. That will fix your problem.
