My buddy is about to get a new radar detector for Christmas and he told me he would sell his Escort Redline for $50. I've heard they are pretty decent radar detectors an I was just wondering if any of y'all that have one like it and how many if any tickets/ at what speeds has it been effective for y'all. Thanks!

for $50 its an obvious choice, take it. But don't rely on it to save you from tickets. Just use it as an aid, trust me it wont save you from tickets as much as some people think it does (been there done that with my 9500). The redline is good though, for highway, i probably wouldn't use it around town it would go off way too much

For $50.00 take it!

Trust me tho, and I seriously mean trust me. I sit on the other side of that radar detector (the giving end) and honestly by the time your radar detector detects the emitted radio wave and your reaction time kicks in to go from gas to brake . It has already been bounced back and computed on the radar unit in the officers vehicle. Those units are a few thousand dollar computing units.

It's good on the highway if there is more traffic because it gives you a chance to brake quickly before a visual estimation or tracking history can be done and you might be able to squeeze in behind someone. However, if your a lone vehicle or the officer has already conducted a visual estimate, it won't help.

It can be a piece of mind but really the only way to avoid a speeding ticket is to not speed at all!

Good luck to you!

There is a smartphone app named waze for droid and IOS that does a great job of letting you know where not only radar traps are but road hazards and traffic conditions. Imagine knowing there is a radar trap 10 miles down the road.

The only caveat there is that the info is only as good as the people providing it, and IIRC that's other Waze users only.

So if you don't have a lot of Waze users near you, or they're lazy, or they put in wrong things, or it doesn't get updated in a timely manner, the info's no good.

Totally depends on who's in your area.

Definitely get it, then go get you a mirror mount and mirror tap off Amazon for a clean install.
In regards to detection from radar....well if your flying through public streets, expect to get caught. My V1 works great all around and still needs the update.

If your on the open road(as I usually am)a combo of a radar detector and a cb seems to work really well.
