my radio only powers on when i turn on parking/headlights.

will not work with ignition...

looked at all the wiring/ harnesses. appears to be virgin untouched.

i have a wiring schematic for the radio. would like to find one for the headlight switch w/o spending money.

any similar experiences? :insane:

my guess is the red/white radio wire is somehow connected to the parking light wire??? :help:

I would guess that your "power wire", or your "key on" wire is tied to your light switch wire which is suppose to be tied to your "radio light" wire.

is it an aftermarket stereo? If it is I would look at where the remote wire is connected... its supposed to be connected to a 12v switched source but not that one haha. if it is factory then my guess is you have like the previous poster stated some melty wires.

thanks for replying already

the radio is stock.
the wires look unaltered.
the headlight switch appears to be 100%. (they are known to burn)

one thing is:
the pink constant power wire for the radio has continuity with GROUND.
(note) this test was performed with the complete dash unit removed out of the frickin truck. that was fun with no manual :banghead:

all this and it's not even a cummings hahaha

so my 3500 dually is back in one piece.

a few improvements like power locks thanks to a donor truck.

my wiring all looked good, so i just turn on my running lights to play the stereo.

i tell people it has 50 more hp that way :pepper:

what's a healthy size tire to fit on one of these trucks? i want to keep stock rims and it already sits waaaay up high compared to my 1500...
thanks
