we have low property taxes here. Back in NYS we were paying $7500 per year, down here, slightly larger house, were paying $1900 per year, altho we pay more for home insurance because of storm threats.

Also, as i said, as your vehicle depreciates, the tax goes down.
It should, but the insurance cost and registration stays about the same , because of inflation and repair costs I guess, my 2014 sports is still a bit over $1000/ yr, but that is full insurance coverage, unlike some places where you can run around with no money, no brains and no insurance.
My rant for the day :emotions122:

I don't remember a recall on the tank straps, I thought there was something about the pocket that the strap goes into , that fills with mud= rust.
The Honda had a similar recall, Wife's was OK.

Odd thing to say. 90% of the sates I know of have the insurance tied directly to registration. Insurance lapses, they notify DMV within 24 hours and p*o*o*f (had to change the word because for some reason it got censored. What madness is that? ), your registration is gone.

PS: My full coverage with a $1mil umbrella on my '16 Sport is $750. The reg goes down every year due to vehicle depreciation.

Where, pray tell, is it that one can run around with no money, no brains and no insurance? ( won't kick that hornets nest and say what I think )

You are correct on the "it's the pocket, not the straps" statement but they are considered one in the same by most..

I've been to Kentucky quite a few times. It's great. The concept of vehicles being taxed annually as personal property is certainly foreign to me LOL! I know many states do it though. As tyrannical as NY is, it isn't terrible when it comes to cars. Rolling 25 emissions exemption for old vehicles is perfectly reasonable. Insurance is costly of course.

well....as i said before, we went from $7500 per year property taxes to $1900 per year, not to mention no state tax on our pensions. Needless to say, we are way ahead of the game living down here vs NYS.

The couple hundred per year i pay for the truck really isn't bad.

I've told many people in NYS to bail out to a southern state, just don't bring that NYS attitude with you (as i was told..lol) You really feel free down here.

Wow, I'd almost feel rich if my pension weren't being taxed. Do they accept Canucks?

How does the vehicular property tax work, and do they gouge every year?
Don't we all get taxed by various levels of government when we initially buy a vehicle?

This sounds like our foolish gov't up here with tax on the tax, no?

.
Georgia does the same thing. It's an ad valorem tax. The tax the value of the vehicle every year. Seems like it should be illegal, you paid sales tax on the vehicle when it was bought.

That a lot of work and time wasted when fuel straps are 40$
And I'd be concerned to drive the truck with that set up. If an accident of some sort were to happen that involved fuel, and an injury lawyer find out that the OP was driving around like that, I would bet they would use that to their advantage.

Good thinking by the OP as a temp fix to get home, but there's no way I'd drive for any length of time with that in place. It's under warranty. Call your dealer and get it replaced correctly so the liability isn't on you.
