“Maximus” – the all-metal wide-body ’68 Charger that we clear-coated over bare metal.
This car was a labor of love. It’s six inches wider than stock, the trunk was made from flat sheet, and the bumper was built from eight separate pieces. All the gaps were finished in steel—there isn’t an ounce of filler anywhere. Even the gas cap had to be centered, reshaped, and welded. I could literally write a book about it.Three years of hammer-and-dolly work in the shop went into this build. One of the most insane car projects we’ve ever done.

Gotta admit i miss those days.
I miss old times too - To the point I think I went a little too far back.
Picked this up yesterday as a "Tinker" project.

All I gotta do for now is get it on the cart I bought for it today.... That's gonna be a challenge since it's some of the real-deal old iron a single person won't be flipping around too easily.
It's all there except for the cylinder drip oiler - And I just ordered one off of fleabay a few minutes ago as of this post. :angels25:

Good article on how Smokey was pulling almost 500hp from a smallblock 302 back in the late 60's using mostly factory parts. It's a fairly long read though.

And then you put the plates back on. Changed out the manifold back down to a 2 barrel and drove home.
I don't know of anybody that ever put a 2 barrel back on for daily driving, but did know a couple that swapped out a tunnel ram and dual 4's back to just a hi-rise and single 4 barrel :waytogo: :Big Laugh:

It was a 65 Chrysler New Yorker with the Big Carter Pumper Manifold, that just had the cookie sheet gaskets for the intake, easy peasy. Yeah we dropped a 2 barrel Carter back down on it, took like 12 minutes, just to try and keep gas consumption down, that ole New Yorker was a beast. (383 motor).

Usually a well set up 4 barrel will match a 2 barrel as far as milege goes, as long as you stay out of the secondaries :Big Laugh:
