Set a lot of points in GM products using a matchbook cover bent over once, lol, did real good on my 67 L4 396. All I ever had in the car was pliers, Phillips and straight screwdrivers, hee hee.

I always found the matchbook cover was too thick for my mopars. 0.019 initial for each side of this dual point that I had out today to replace the vacuum advance. Always eyeballed it if installing the points in the car. Then adjust with the meter.

31 on each side and 34 combined dwell. Should be closer to 36. Doesn't run as well if I widen each side out to 32, so this is how I've set it up for years...

Yeah but remember 30-32 dwell single set points in big block Chevy. Had more issues with the Rockchester carb heat rise than points. Got to the point I just pulled the heat riser rod off and used manual choke.

Or no choke. This carter hasn't had the butterflies for the choke on it since before 75. Even in subzero, pump it three times, set the fast idle and start and let it get warm

WELL dem RocketChesters, lmao, always had the heat coil/riser to set choke. I got so tired of it, I just removed the rod and put on manual wire, solved all the BS starting issues on carb.

I can tell you weren't around farmers and drilling rigs much in your younger days,you'd be amazed at what becomes a permanent repair if it's working

that is a advanced upgrade on the battery, I usally just see twisted wire,
I know of a couple truck doors with vice grips for door handles.
Most Chinese ones are only good for these jobs, usally on F150's & IHC, if the door had not fell off yet.

And we can't forget spray foam as the typical farm truck body filler.

The Stage 1 455 Buick was the torque king of that era with it's rated output of 510 lb-ft at 2800 rpm,but the old 440 6 pack wasn't far behind with it's 490 lb-ft at 3200 rpm.

There's usually 1 or 2 that show up at 3 Hills and i think i seen 1 at Airdries Doing it on the Grass show last August Shawn

Had a good friend in the late 80s that bought a 69 GS hardtop with a 400 in it. Had a whole lotta power. He sold it when he moved north to Seattle for a couple of years. Not sure what whatever happened to that car.
