RBP Grille Emblem Removal

I just purchased a RBP NDX Grille for my Ram. I heard that you can remove the big star in the middle of the grille but I don't want to damage the grille doing so. The emblem is bolted on and that's easy enough to remove but there is a black plate behind the emblem that is attached directly to the mesh of the grille. Not sure how it is attached but it seems on there good. Has anyone had any success removing without damaging the grille?
