I’m replacing the rear rotors on my truck. I understand there is an emergency brake adjuster wheel that needs turned? Does that need to be turned/ adjusted to be able to get the rotor off? Or can I just hit the rotor off? Thanks in advance

My brake shoes were not that worn or tight and mine came off.

If you can turn the rotor then it should come off. Mine would turn but had a bunch of build up and I still had to knock them off with a hammer. The adjustment works just like the adjustment on drum brakes.
I was worried about damaging the emergency brake shoes if I wacked the rotors off with a hammer.

I didn't have to loosen the parking brake when I did my rear. Moreover, after I installed new rotors the parking brake was very loose and wouldn't hold the truck on slightest slope. Had to tighten it.

It will be spongy or springy if they are hanging up but if you are concerned just back them off and then tighten afterwards. It doesn't take that much more time to do it.
