Not sure yet. Just found out yesterday about the no insurance. Thinking of contacting the police about this. She was cited for speeding.
I would definitely contact the police officer who filed the accident report and let him know her insurance had lapsed so he can write her another ticket for no insurance. Have you had a chance to get a repair estimate?

I believe I pay a bit extra on my insurance to cover uninsured drivers.
This might be a good time to review your policy and maybe call around for new policy quotes from others if your present company are being difficult about paying out.

I was with the last company for 30+ years when they decided to get more greedy.
They tried to extort me for a $500 annual increase unless I paid about $450 to have transmitters in my truck.

Then, no doubt, they would not approve of my driving habits and want to jack my rates again. I moved my truck and house insurance, and am saving money.

.
Insurance in Ontario is very close to extortion, especially home insurance. I found that auto insurance was a bit cheaper here but I also noticed the crappy deductible. $500 for comprehensive but $1000 for an accident. ........... JUST when you might need it, they try to slam you!!!

Unfortunately, in Ontario ones insurance premiums are based off ones postal code.

brampton & mississauga (Peel Region in general) have pretty much the highest insurance rates in all of Canada, and for good reason.

Ahhhh, that is how they figure it. I live in the north so my insurance isn't horrible, I just don't like the 2 level deductible.

When I got my new (to me) 22 Warlock a few months ago after getting all the paperwork done at the dealer, I called my insurance company to add it to my coverage. They (CAA Insurance?) wanted nearly $500 a MONTH in rural southern Ontario not anywhere in the GTA. More than I'm paying for the truck itself! I had to do last minute 'find the cheapest insurance' website deals before I could drive it home.

I got onto some Manitoba insurance company through a broker. I have a perfect record, no claims, no tickets. etc. Are you all aware recent fob key Rams are the most stolen trucks in the world apparently? I'm keeping my fobs in a steel box in the middle of the house at night, just in case.

Maybe I'm just ignorant but I'm paying like $70/mo. for my 2012 Ram, so that price they quoted floored me.

Already did that. The officer wasn't interested in doing anything (took a few attempts to get a hold of him).

Repairs are already done and I got my deductible money back. See prior posts.

That's useless. I'm not writing a ticket on your word and if you provided me the information you're now a material witness so if she wants to go to trial you have to show up. Plus I need to physically serve her the ticket. Then the judge will drop if it they show they bought insurance.

Instead you just let the state deal with it. At least in my state, you have to provide the state with proof of insurance after a crash regardless of who's at fault. If you don't, your license is suspended until you do. We've had cops/firemen get their license suspended from an on duty crash because the report didn't have the "gov't vehicle" checked and the department didn't get the request for insurance while (obviously) the officer's personal insurance doesn't cover their police car. An embarrassing way to end up as a 2 man car for a few days...:D

I haven't written a ticket of any kind in years, but even when I did that juice is nowhere near worth the squeeze.

See above for why the lack of interest.
