So I scheduled an appt at Lebanon dodge on Ohio near me, I have used this dealership for all my warranty issues in the past and they have been great...this time I scheduled an appt 3-4 weeks, ago dropped off my truck the night before, I have a Saturday appt at 830am. I had 2 safety recalls and a diagnostics for and scheduled...the only thing that was completed was the diagnostic for the abs...now I have to schedule another Saturday appt to get the recalls completed...I totally went ******* on the service adviser for not having the parts in stock after having the specific appts set for 3 or 4 weeks...anyone else have these same issues???

I have not (yet), though the only recall work I had done so far didn't involve parts, and my dealership is a small country one (they sell way more trucks than cars.)

I would be a bit patient on the tailgate one, though... Dealerships everywhere are gonna be *slammed* for awhile on parts for it...

2 hour oil change at the dealer, and that didn't include a wash ... Had an appt for a month, and I get there, and they tell me they will be able to get it in, in about 40 minutes ... Rediculous

I brought my truck in for the recall on the cruise control. I realized a week afterwards that it then wasn’t working whatsoever and had to bring it in again. They told me a part was needed and that they had to order it. Three visits later and it’s finally fixed and now I hear there is another recall for the tailgates.

It’s frustarting because I have to book time off work and I’m losing $$$ every time I bring my truck in.

And those are many of the reasons why I haven’t given those recalls a second thought. I haven’t had any problems worth mentioning since I bought my truck early last year and certainly no problems with the items in question so I think maybe I should wait at least another 6 months or so. I can’t imagine not having my cruise control not working for even one mile as much as I use it. These are the reasons why I always do all my own maintenance and always have, because you just can’t depend on anyone else to do things right the first time.

Nope I throw the recalls right in the trash just like these dealers seem to be.
If I made a app a month early took my truck in and they could not complete everything I would be super pissed off for sure, I just think its crazy to haft to make a app like that for such simple fixes and they should not even be taking appointments untill they have the parts in stock.

I have worked in dealerships and when a recall happens everyone wants it done yesterday, and the manufacturer only sends you an allotted number of them which is usually not near enough to cover what the dealership sold let alone all the ones they didn’t. The dealership should be up front though and not schedule you in if they can’t get or don’t have the parts.

Depending on the recall, it is a verify the condition first and then perform the recall. They will not order parts until condition is verified or needed. Not unusual that a recall will be a two visit ordeal. Given the usual parts shortages nationwide, most dealers do not stock recall parts first, only as demand requires.

recently went to the dealer to get a pcv hose that crosses over the engine(K&N requires you to cut it). i explain to the parts guy and he said it was ordered i go in and its a heater hose. i had to go in two more time before i ended up looking for the part number myself and telling them to order it

This is pretty much SOP for appointments at Hendrick Dodge. Unbelievable that on their website they suggest that they welcome drop-ins for oil changes. I tried that the first time I went there and they told me it'd be a six hour wait.

Why yes you can blame them. They should not make appointments if they dont have the parts to do the work. Its simple really :)
.

How many parts was the dealer told to expect vs what arrived.

Lol I will keep blaming the dealer, they should not set up appointments if they dont have parts to do it with.
I also dont by the idea they need to look at your truck before hand.
Take the tailgate recall there is zero reason to look at the truck before hand, the parts are bad and need replaced per the recall..lol

Then these guys not getting the reflash done and having to go back ? No parts needed there.

Only been to mine once for a checkup, truck was missing out pretty bad and I pulled in about 3:20 and asked if they could throw a scanner on it to see if it was ok to drive it home or if I should just leave it there and try to figure out a ride home.
They told me there techs left at 4:00 and they did not have time to look at it, really pissed me off since it would have taken less than 10mins to read the code off it.
I went and bought a scanner and diagnosed it myself.

Maybe they had to order more electrons that run through the wires for their scanner to add the update....

Cruise control worked fine.
Went in for recall and then it didn't work. Went back and they tried to sell me a switch for $200.
Got mad and said no. Just a little bit suspicious that part supposedly failed after computer reprogram.
I told them to put it back together and that I wasn't buying anything.
When they brought it out, they said they did another unrelated update.
Low and behold, cruise works fine.
A little upsell scheme to help finance recall, perhaps???
