We are doing a 200k mile inspection under the timing cover. The crankshaft has been pinned with a 1/4" x 1/2" dowel.
I have been trying to plan on how to get the balancer on aligned on a 1st try. I'm hoping the vast knowledge base here will have an SOP.

As you can see the pin is captures on the balancer as when drilling into a shaft and bore center line the radius hugs the pin on the OD part.
Anyone here played this game?

The pin kit and instructions came with an Edelbrock supercharger kit. Thanks

I'd follow the instructions from the kit, it seems if you got it off, you can get it back on.

Balancer goes on first, while aligning the holes, then drive the pin into the hole.

I don't think your going to have the pin stay in place during reassambly. It's designed to go into an assembled unit. Held with lock tight and the crank bolt.

I have the same setup on my supercharged truck, and, I have zero confidence I could reassemble with the pin in place. It's not built like an old keyway pinned crank.

I wouldn't over think it, it's not that complicated, if push comes to shove, and you can't align the holes and have to have the crank pinned, I'd Re drill the hole in a different spot. It's a 30 minute job max.

The actual instructions are below starts at 41

Most guys end up redrilling the hole as Big stated, but give it a whirl by lining it up with the ole calibrated eyeball, and you might get lucky with re-using the original hole.
