Removing underseat storage?

I have a 2018 1500 quad cab express. Has anyone removed the separator under the back seat that's is supposed to be the storage area? I want to get rid of it for more space under the back seat and maybe put some drawers down there.

Perhaps remove the seats back there and peel back the carpet and underlay and see what's all under it. You may have more useable space.
