@Hemi4905 hope it works for you.
I’ve had it on for a week and it’s been solid. It has ‘flattened out’ for a more form fit on the corners. Little water gets in at the tailgate area, but the bed stays 90% dry (I have a weathertech bed mat). Came with adhesive weather stripping to tape around the tailgate but I was not concerned about water, more to keep debris out. I have an HDX storage tote in the bed if I need items water proof.

I know its expensive, but my Diamondback HD cover is one of my favorite things ever. It looks badass, the security is second to none, and it literally gives you a flatbed in addition to your regular bed. You can actually park a quad on it! We sit on ours to watch fireworks and stand on it to trim the trees, etc... I've just been so happy with it. And I tried the two other most popular options before this... The roll up one and the tri-fold one. Now... I wouldn't buy a truck if I couldn't put a Diamondback Cover on it! www.DiamondbackHD.com5ad9587fc8d41618e414ba15494ec5ae.jpg57bbce0120756f516322fd9c74a6c4be.jpgaac4947392105b6871c48bedd7c243a7.jpg

Thanks for posting the pictures @FamilyRAM I have to admit I really like the diamondback flatbed (stand on it all day and trim trees), but as a first cover mod not so much. However, I agree it’s something worth saving up for at some point potentially but the next mods for me are adding the factory Tow Hooks, Nerf Bars, and 2 inch lift to fit 33’s.

Hi Members,

I'm a newbie to the Ram 1500 club with my 2019 Classic but now let the mods begin. My question is what is the most affordable, tried and true bed covers out there that are actually worth the money? Thanks in advance.
The foldable, heavy vinyl covers are the best and most convenient to have. Have had all the different types - hard cover (aluminum, fiberglass, plastic, etc.), roll up, toneau, snap and roll up, foldable, metal, and vinyl. But for my money the foldable vinyl covers wins hand down. Period.

I've tried a number of covers over the years (decades...) of my truck truck ownership. I love the look of a soft cover, but they are not very durable for my use (ymmv) For hard covers I've found the most usable to be the Extang Solid Fold 2.0. It's not a flush with the bed rails cover, but very versatile and seems to be a lot more secure and safe than others (no coat hanger popping on this one!) Anyway, my new RAM when I get it will have an Extang. https://extang.com/solid-fold-2-0 (P.S. No, I don't get any kick back on this post, darn it! :) )

I’ve had both a soft and trifold hard and will never go back to a soft tonneau. Spend the few dollars more and don’t look back.

Agreed. I had the soft Extang roll-up and it's okay keeping things out of the elements but not watertight and definitely no security. I had a Fold-a-cover that was almost waterproof and lockable on my previous truck. Currently have a fibreglass tonneau on my 2010 which provides great weather protection and security but is a lot less flexible than the folder was. I don't think I'd do the fibreglass again though it does look amazing. I guess it just comes down to what your priorities for the truck are.

if you live or travel in freezing weather area avoid the Backflip G2 like the plague. I'm on my 3rd cover under warranty and this one will do the same thing by the end of winter.

basically water get between the aluminum and foam take makes the panel and when it freeze it cause the panel to delaminate.

they told me the last time that it was the last cover they would send me.

I would also avoid anything under the truck hero brand

^^This is 100% true. I had a Backflip F1 on my 2011 Silverado till I bought my Ram in 2015, that cover was shot when I sold that truck. It also started to absorb water and must have been 5x heavier than it was when it was new.

Something to keep in mind about the hard folding covers, I did not like how you lose your line of sight out of your rear window when they are folded up all the way up.

I bought a Backflip Roll-X when I bought my Ram. It is night and day from the F1. Fairly watertight, locks along the whole edge of the bed rails, and I have has no issues with corrosion living in the salt belt. When I need to use the bed, you just pull the lever and it rolls up, has two straps to keep it in place, and is out of sight when driving. You have access to the whole bed.

You do have the bed rails though, but that isn't a huge issue for me as most of the loads I haul are basic homeowner stuff, plywood, sheetrock, etc. It is very low profile and sleek looking. I am not sure if you are suppose to or not but I do... I can open and close the tailgate without having to open the cover and shut it once it's closed. The F1 was like that and it was a PITA. I have had zero issues with the Roll-X and will probably buy another one when I eventually have to get another truck. Hopefully, that is a ways down the road though.

I have a Pace Edwards roll up, mostly because it was the only one I could find that had side rails to mount a rack over the cover. Really liked this setup, but now after about 4 yrs, it is a struggle to open/roll the cover fully open. I don't really open the cover that much so it has gotten very stiff and needs to be forced open, which recently caused a section of the cover to bend. It was also VERY expensive ($1200), probably would have been better off just getting a full cap instead.

I used to use them when I thought they helped gas mileage. Since they do not....it is a waste of valuable “Mod” Money

Well, guess really depends upon wat U use yer truck for. I researched all of them, and I was gonna do BackFlip 2. But in end, with free FCA money from owning a ED, and $600 more installed got my full hard shell. Works for me, but I know a lot of folks use their trucks in diff ways. And I sure do like the paint matched body cover and these are really pretty close to waterproof, just a saying... PIC on right is a file photo has I have no PICS of tonneau from that angle...PIC on left is the Red Beast, lol

Great Question! To me the bed cover gets as much thought as the truck itself. The way i describe my truck is the cab is my car the bed is my truck. I wanted no less then the 6.3 bed, I use my stake pocket holes so over the rail was out, hard covers take up valuable bed space or fold up against the rear of the cab so they were out. Hard tonneau was completely out as they are useless in my opinion. I had an access inside the rail on my 07 with Velcro and the cover started falling apart and the company didn't even entertain me. Extang was great CS for my 03.
Now on my 2016 I went same inside rail roll up with Velcro and chose the LUND genesis elite and truly couldn't be happier.

Pros
1: rolls up in any temp with ease.
2 minutes to install
3: company stands behind their product
4 have access to my stake holes for bed rails (which i use as tie points at times)
5: locks on both sides.
6. fabric is almost identical to OEM one
Cons:
1: Inside rail does take up space but minimal
2: locks are on both sides make it a little difficult to unlock

Plus I got mine for $200 from amazon because i purchased an open box which they said can be returned. The cable lock soon pulled from the plastic and they refund me $100 to keep it. new set screw later and i was all set.

PS that diamonback HD is over the top badass cool but is owner specific to me due to its design. And how many times am i gonna load ON TOP of the cover vs inside the bed. But how
the OP has it pictured it is in perfect use there.

Just got the TruXedo TruXport for my 2015 Big Horn….and find it works for me. I know its not SECURE but it covers the stuff I occasionally carry in back and rolls up nicely and securely when I need the bed for other things. Easy to install, low cost, looks nice, took it to a car wash with the brushes and sprays from all angles and high velocity air blow dryers to test water leakage, and was amazed....nearly water tight....not perfect but, close. I drive a lot of gravel, dusty roads and so I bought the tailgate seal kit....that helped a lot and now the truck is for all practical purposes water and dust tight.

Just bought my 3rd Ram truck this past weekend, 2003 / 2017 now a new 2019. Had Undercover tonneau covers on both of the others. Going down that road again with my 2019. My 2003 1500 still had the undercover classic cover I put on when I bought it in fall of 03. When I sold it a month ago, it still looked like a new one. My kids used to take the 03 to the drive in movies (yes we still have one of those) and put 4 lawn chairs on top of it to watch the movie. That’s 4 teenagers not little kids. Never made a mark on it. They are virtually indestructible, weigh +/- 70 lbs depending on model and your bed length and extremely easy to take off and put back on when you need to haul something other than groceries.

Placing the order for one for my 2029 today.
