Rust looking discoloration on rubber...What is this?

Hey all, just noticed this on my truck they other day. Looks like rust but it's a rubber seal so can't be. But that discoloration is crazy. This is on a 1.5 year 1500 sport...wtf?! Anybody seen this on theirs?

Common, my truck has it too.

I believe there is a metal backer "rod" in the weatherstrip that rusts.

If it bothers you, you could lightly sand it, clean, and then cover with clear or black silicone.

Drop a bit of Por15 on it without doing anything to it and you’ll be good. It’s just the metal reinforcement in the seal rusting.

I got it too.. I hate rust and destroy it but even this I ignore lol

Yeah thought about that since I used Plasti dip on my previous car I have some leftover. If it was on the passenger side I wouldn't see and not care as much but being on the drivers side I throw stuff in the back seat every now and then.
