I think I'm gonna be leaving the Ram family :(
I dont really have a need for a pickup right now and my moms b day is coming up and shes always wanted for as long as I can remember to go on a cruise so I'm gonna take her and thats knocking off about 1500 of my budget. But she deserves this more than I need a truck.

My Ram was my first truck and I do plan on coming back maybe in a year or so to another Ram. Maybe even a cummins if I can save it up :naughty:

Most decent rams will now be out of my price range. I am looking at a few 90's jeep cherokees for around $1500. Any thoughts on them?

Dude props to you for doing that for your mom. Takes a lot to sacrifice what you really want for something. Whatever you choose, both are a good decision.

Nice thing to do for your Mom. I'm not a big fan of Jeeps. I had a 98 Jeep GC 5.9 Limited. They seem to have too many issues for me.

You are doin a great thing there bud.

The Cherokees are usually pretty good. I would do your best to get the 4.0 I6 under the hood. I would love to get my hands on one too as a DD/play toy

Thanks everyone. I told her about it today, she flipped. In a good way lol. She's pretty happy and I'm going to look at a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 tonight so I think I'll be happy too :) It has the 5.2 just like in my Ram.

Well that jeep was a nogo. Trans was slippin pretty bad.

BUT! I have a pretty tough decision. I found a 1995 Ram 1500 4x4 with 261,000 miles. The guy says that it needs a $50 sensor to get the overdrive to work. And when you get up around 55-60 it starts rattling a little, but when you hit the OD button it stops.

He was asking $1500 and I said I was gonna pass cuase it needs a headlight wiring issue fixed to pass inspection and my budget now is 1500 after the cruise. So he dropped to 900 bucks. I still passed. Which I think was a mistake. But I'm not sure, so Im asking yall.

Is a 95 1500 4x4 with 261000 miles worth 900 plus a few hundred in repairs?
and dont worry I know with 260k it wont be lasting me another 10 years, I plan on only keeping this for 6 months or so until I can really upgrade like I was wanting to before the cruise.

Gotta do what you gotta do man. My dad was pushing me to use my 03 Ram as a down payment on a Cummins, but instead, i bought a Lexus and gave my old man the truck so he could retire his junker van. Nothing better than finally seeing him proudly own something nice after 45 years of work and hardship.

No one has much need for a truck until they get rid of it!!! Trust me - my dad "didn't need" a truck neither! You'll be back!!!

Great thing you're doing for your mom!
