I use an all Meguiar's formula and have just applied my 2nd application of wax/sealant after two years which was still beading water.

Clay bar, Ultimate Paste wax, then as needed wash with Ultimate Wash & Wax with a Boars Hair brush.
Every few weeks sometimes almost 2 months I apply Ultimate Quick Detailer after a wash.

After two years she was still sheeting water off as I flooded the beading water off with a hose and no nozzle. This gets most of the remaining moisture off before pulling MF towels over her.

I use the paste because applying it is much more controllable, its thin film tech and just touching the pad to the wax is the ticket. With cream its hard to be consistent on applying it.

That car wash is great and doesn't hurt or diminish the wax or detailing.

Have Fun

My ceramic cost about 1,500 in metro-Detroit. Got it before any swirls or scratches. I hand was or use only touchless car wash (very high pressure wash), others (brush or felt) will ultimately scratch it. One year and 10,000 miles later it looks showroom new. Would do it again.

I am looking at having My truck done at a local detailing place. The guys claims 5 yr life cost is 250 which would include polishing and the coating. I am not sure exactly the coating he uses. My truck is a 17 with 10k on it it does has a few light scratches and spends the majority of the time in the shed. Looking for questions to ask or info. I have done a bit of reading but looking for help.

$250 would be more along the lines of him doing some paint correction to get the swirls and scratches out, then spraying some hydroSilex on it and calling it ceramic coating. As the others are saying it's about $1500+. Additionally it doesn't last 5 yrs, maybe closer to 2-3 yrs depending on how often you clean it.

I'm getting ready to do my bug since it's small and I can fix the mess-ups, then I'll tackle doing my '18 3500.

Right now I'm caring for the paint with a two-bucket wash system, Meguiars M100/M205 (with foam and microfiber pads on a DA polisher) and wax with Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax (great results and very hydrophobic).

You are better off youtubing ceramic coating and purchasing some from Amazon and doing it yourself. Adams has a decent product and DIY video.

Ask the guy what he's using specifically and post it up here. $250 is not even covering the prep work much less the polishing or the coating.

$250 might do a fender-better off spending the money on high-end waxes-if real ceramic applications were that cheap everyone would do it-hell I would do my lawnmower for $50.--Like others said the prep work is very extensive-just like you would not want to varathane your wood with cat hair stuck to it--LOL--I did that recently and had to re-sand and start again!

Thanks for the help so far, I will try and find out what the product he is using is. Most everyone confirmed my suspicion of the low price when it seems to good to be true it usually is.

250 bucks won’t buy the product my detail guy uses. OptiCoat Pro. Costs about a grand to apply but I have it done to all my vehicles and boats.

Ceramic coatings are advertised as a do all end all however I highly suggest researching and making the decision based on your situation. As others have said the prep work is necessary, paint correction must be done prior to coating because it can not be done after.
An important note to address. A ceramic coating does not make your paint scratch/scuff proof. Therefore if you do get a scratch it’s not as simple to just buff it out with a coating. There are plenty of pros and cons to ceramic coatings so read as much as you can.
Ceramic is excellent for wheels, windows and PPF (paint protection films)
With all the sio2 products flooding the market right now you get the same results as a coating. In other words you can get all the pros without the cons.
There is definitely a place for ceramic coating but please beware of advertisements and companies marketing the stuff as the forever alternative. There is plenty of good information on YouTube if you’d rather watch than read.

Ceramic coating is one of things you can easily DIY. Google DIY ceramic coatings. There are a number of them out there. No one says you have to do the entire trailer at one time. Do just the front cap first. Then work on the rest in sections.

I did the adams ceramic coating to my rebel and wife’s grand Cherokee. It was a lot of work but the end product was worth it. The shine is great and it’s so much easier to wash now. The dirt/bugs don’t put up a fight at all to come off now and the water beads like crazy. Apply some ceramic boost every now and then and it’s a once a year thing for me.
