so my wife tells me today while borrowing my truck that she “scratched the mirror a lil”...AKA a massive gouge‍♂️. She’s looking up a bunch of compounds on amazon to buff it out, though I think they are way too deep to just buff out DIY style, is there any miracle solution to this besides replacing the mirror?

PS it’s a chrome finish mirror

Vinyl wrap them maybe, don’t think that’s gonna be a buff out type scratch unfortunately.

This is exactly why I used to only drive manual transmission trucks.

How easily do the old chrome covers come off? Seeing as how the covers fully cover the stock mirrors with adhesive it seems like something that’ll be a ***** to get off.

Oem isn’t stick on. You pop off your mirror and a few screws and they are off. I replaced my black w chrome.

Where did you purchase the covers? I would like to do the opposite and change to Black ones.

Lol I was going on my second attempt at wrapping with vinyl and pulled the cap all the way off this time. They say practice makes perfect, I'm still in the practice phase :)

Amazon or Ebay, don't know if I ever seen just the cap on MoparParts could always ask on that sub-forum.

As said, replace the cover, not the entire mirror or see if you could source one from a local junk yard? No, your correct, those won't buff out.

So what did she hit? Lol. How did it happen?

You can buy my old one. No signs of wear. And you can sell yours to OP?

I'm in the same boat. Let me know if you ever find just the caps.

I wasn't a fan of the chrome mirrors on my laramie and found these on eBay. Would work good for covering up those 'scratches'
