So recently went to 1 of many RAM dealers & asked a service tech for the security code to go in & change some settings, 1 of which is to reprogram the computer to read the correct speed w 35x12.5x20 tires, the guy looked @ me & said "we're not allowed to give that out??" In other threads on here posters say- "no problem, just get it from the service dept" my question is this- did i use some incorrect language, or did I just happen upon a stubborn service tech? I need some help getting this code to get into more in depth programming section of the ecm & program away!!

There is no “security code” needed to do any OBD programming on the 2019+ heavy duty rams.

Maybe the tech thought we were talking about the 4 digit pin (or is it a rolling 5 by '19)

What software are you using to reprogram? What device? Where are you plugging it in. You gotta have the bypass cable. Cannot just plug into the OBD plug.

Instructions say to plug into OBD port just under the steering wheel. I haven't plugged it in as of yet, thinking I needed the security bypass code from Dodge?

You have the security bypass cable for the OBD?
Three times in his thread the bypass cable has been mentioned. We can only help the fellow if he reads the responses and responds back. Dunno. There is no secret code he is looking for.

Ok, that looks like an adapter cable that more than likely came with an OBD scanner. What you need is the Security By-pass cable (needed for all RAM trucks built after 2019).

This is not a cable you can pick up at your local store, or that will come with a scanner or adapter. They are custom made cables. The by-pass cable allows you to use software like AlphaOBD to program/change many functions for your Ram, including adjusting the tire size.

At this pount, it appears that you have 1 of the 3 things needed to program various functions in/on your truck. The OBD adapter you have purchased is needed, but at this point, it will have limited use (as in it will allow you to read codes etc. with scanning apps) until you get the by-pass cable, you will not be able to change any of the trucks settings. You will also need the AlphaOBD software as well.

Look in the AphaOBD thread (run a search if you are having issues locating the thread) on this site and it will provide you a link to where to purchase the security by-pass cable, the link for AlphaOBD and provide you with information on known "mods" that you can use (if so desired).

Hope this helps...

carry correct paperwork and they HAVE to give it to you...you may have to get stern, but they have to.... you can pull the 4 digit code to make keys etc.... and THAT is the one you want, NOT the 5 digit code that changes... However, I can change my tire sizes and pressures etc WITHOUT using OBDll stuff.... through regular EVIC... as per link....
