I have a 2014 Mega Cab 6.4L I got a service 4wd message one day then it went away. I shifted into 4wd for a short hill climb when I shifted out the truck didn't come out. I shut it off when I restarted it, it was in 2wd. Recently I shifted it again and it wouldn't come out I shut it off, I ran it in reverse, I hit a normal patch of NY roads to jar it out. I took it to some soft dirt and punched it to see if it was actually in 4wd or if the Axle was the only part locked in. It was in 4wd transfer case driving front wheels. Three days later it came out. Instead of throwing parts at it can someone explain how it works? Does the interior switch tell the transfer case, and the front Axle to shift in, does the Axle shift in first then the transfer case, choose the transfer case tell the front Axle to lock in? The actuator on the Axle looks like there is a module on it and the case only has a motor on it. It could even be my switch went bad. Any help would be much appreciated than you.
